Will stock head be good for 400whp???

ok my block is almost done it has ross pitons and eagle rods ....but i want to know if i have to build the head ???im aiming for 400whp ....its going to be a daily driver ...any info will help..........

Your head is good, its really only when you start to rev high that you need to upgrade. Of course you should later look into upgrading the head.

o ok thanks i think my redline should be at about 7800-8000 .....thats probaby were my powerbands stops

You don't HAVE TO, but it is recommended you do.
Look at it this way, you already have a built bottom-end, why half-ass things and not do the top ? Get yourself a good set of valves, valve springs, retainers, and some 272's. It'll help with flow up top to get you to that 400hp mark easier and safer.
Since you are already working on the head, if you haven't done so already, get some arp head studs and a mitsubishi mls 4-layer head gasket. You'll never regret you bought them when you decide to do those high-boost highway pulls.

yea if i can make the power with out it then why buy itand yes i got the arp head studs and i was about to order the cometic hg because i cant find the mitsu 4 layer with a .30 over bore

I'd def. upgrade the head too. Its apart already. Angle job, cams. Good valves, retainers and springs wont break you. Do it efficiently.

At least have it rebuilt with new valve seals and a valve job. Valve seals in these motors tend to deteriorate pretty quick....that is unless you want your car to smoke...hey, but look on the bright side, you'll knock down the mosquito population in your town.

yea im going to get oem valve seals ,bronze valve guides

OEM 3rd revision style lifters are designed not to have the same issues with lifter tick that previous versions did. Also, what have you done to your car? You should fill out a mod list. If you're still on stock cams, intake manifold, and anything really smaller than a 20G there's no point revving that high. You can do it if you want, but it will be out of your power band.
