WILL PAY. East SF Bay Area. blew head gasket, so want to rebuild

Okay guys. My '92 GSX has been sitting in front of my home for almost 3 months now. The story is my turbo died, sucked all my oil, and spit it out on a 100 mile drive and helped my engine overheat, blowing my head gasket. The GSX also spit out some antifreeze...

I have no mechanical experience whatsoever but I need some sort of transportation to bring down to college. I called some shops and one even quoted me $5500 to swap the engine!! Sure, it comes with a 7 year warranty, but who the hell needs that for a '92?

From what I understand, I can get a professional rebuild for around $1500-$2000. Or I can buy a JDM or rebuild motor for about $1200 plus installation. BUT, what I'd really love to do is pick up a rebuild kit for around $500 and pay one of you awesome DSMers (one in the Bay please) to do it for me while at the same time I get to watch and learn up close how an engine rebuild is done! =)

Just name your price... I'll even treat you to lunch and dinner =).

I'm in the bay area and "might" be of some assistance. Do you have any pics of it? Is it an engine swap for sure? (Should be with the oil and stuff flying everywhere).... I'm in the middle of a 6 bolt swap but maybe after that I'd be able to lend a hand. Are you planning on throwing in a fully built engine or another stock. FYI Ebay is your friend....I got a pretty much fully built motor for 1300. And with mitsubishi probably wanting around 5-6k for a engine swap it's a good way to same some green.

I'd help without a doubt, but I don't have any experience with engine rebuilds, so I really couldn't help you out too much. Unless you feel like takin off a week and figuring it out together Cuz I'd sure love to learn how to do an engine rebuild too. Just in case my engine CWs (knocks on wood)

But other than that, I can't really think of many ppl. If it comes down to it, talk to Kamil at Hi-Rev, he's not back till the 29th, but he's been pretty helpful to me, so maybe he can help you out too. PM if you want his email address, or who knows, someone might just respond here.
