Well, I just got my fp3065 today. I'll be putting it in within the next couple of weeks. My car has an automatic tranny and was wondering if its going to have any problems with the power ? I plan on making 450 to the wheels. Anybody making a lot of power with the stock tranny? Hows it holding up ?

I have the EVO 3 GT at about 18psi and im having transmission problems, my clutch for 1 cannot hold in first, and second gear. The transmission within the last month has totally lost 2nd gear from racing all the time. I would say for you to get a shepard stage 2 tranny with a spec stage 3 clutch. Thats what im getting in a few months.

if i go easy on it, will i have any problems??

Well, you are bringing a hypothetical situatuon into the equation... Sure, if you drive it like a grandma it will survive... But then you have to ask, why am I building a 450hp engine if I can't get its potential? :beatentodeath: WTF This is one of those things where cutting corners will bite you in the @$$... Do what the guys above me did and get a shep, tre, etc. Tranny. Or just rebuild yours a lot stronger. In the long run you won't regret it.:thumb:

The tranny will no doubt start slipping later on, and you might break something with repetitive power pulls.
You can keep the boost down to lower the power, as you will see that the tranny will not shift fast enough once you ask it to handle lots of power.
You can get a performance rebuild like the one i currently have from IPT. The tranny , hands down is freaking awesome. It shifts firmly, consistently, and with an authoritative manner. Gotta love it !
Go to www.ipttrans.com and call up john there, he is a helpful guy .
If your not ready for it, then keep the power down, because i doubt it will handle more than 400 hp.
Good luck buddy !:thumb:

I guess this is different for an automatic, because i have a few of 1g manual transmission friends who are making anywhere from 300-400 whp without any tranny issues yet other than the commom dsm grinding 2nd issue. But then again two of my friends have rebuilt stock trannys with double synochroed 2nd gear ( but nothing else special about the tranny than that. )

I suppose how much power the tranny can take depends on its current condition, how hard and long you drive on it under extreme conditions and how hard you shift, plus whether or not you launch it. Oh and what type of fluid you fill it with and how often you change that fluid im sure has a bearing. ( I have synchromesh in mines right now.)
Mines grinds 2nd and sometimes 5th ( yea i know 5th ??) but its a tired old 1990s tranny.
But ill be ok as long as i dont loose any gears for the next four or five months till im ready to put a race tranny in with lsd.
