ok guys. screw all the other stuff i said. im gonna drop a new motor in my 1992 n/t eclipse. me and some friends put a new battery in and tried to start it. after the 100th time, we figure we'd pull it behind my friends truck and pop the clutch in 3rd. That didnt work. So, we finally decided to do a compression test. heres where it gets interesting. The number 4 cylinder didnt even have 50psi!! and number 3 didnt have more than 20psi!! so, if someone could tell me whats up w/ that, then thatd be cool. Other wise, im most likely gonna swap in this engine and was wondering if it will fit the '92 n/t tranny. and also, if i do end up getting the motor, will i have to get a new ECU? thanks guys
 
Ok, yes you will need another ECU, and thats a lil ridiculous for a N/T motor, I'm doing a N/T turbo swap thsi weekend and then my 2.0 N/T will be up for sale, ECU harness, Motor, Tranny and everything else 500+ shipping wont find a better deal than that.
 
why would he need a new ecu as long as its the same motor your all set is it now a 1.8l? if its then yeah you will need a new ecu and tranny if its a 2.0 your all set if you do a turbo motor swap well you need a new ecu and tranny

yeah its a 1.8 now, but im just trying to get it running and use it as a daily driver. then save some money and drop a 2.0 turbo in

yeah ill have to keep that in mind. i acctually might have the money for that.
 
ok if its a 1.8l you might all so need to change the wireing harness i know with the 2.0 non turbo to turbo conviersion you have to change pin outs from the ecu for the mass air flow sensor you will def need a new ecu tranny and motor intercooler oil cooler if i were you honnestly save some cash and buy a 1g turbo car you will ###### find it cheaper in the long run and more realible and less of a headace i dont know of anyone changing 1.8 to a turbo car i know a few people who have done the 2.0 nontrubo to turbo conversion so i would ask around and see if it can really be done but i think you may need to change your winring hraness and thats not fun but if you can get it all for a good deal and have the time more power to ya but if your going to buy a 2.0 non turbo motor and drop it in and change it again to a turbo thats nuts a waste of $$$ you could ###### get a turbo 2g car for the amount of money you'll spend on the 1.8 to 2.0 nonturbo conversion and then to 2.0 turbo but you will also ###### need a 2.0 mass air flow senor turbo or non w/e you do
