I know this subject has been getting beaten to death but I'd just like to have some piece of mind. So here's how it goes, I bought a dud of a talon and its been out of commission for a while. I got a new engine for it then found out the turbo was bad also. I know, I know, I should have inspected this car more carefully but I got it for cheap. Anyways I'm replacing the t25 with an Evo III 16g. I don't have any supporting mods as of now so I just wanted to run it at stock boost levels. The problem is, is that it has a 2.5" exhaust and doesn't have the cat on. Everything I've read on here would indicate I should have boost creep but I'd just like to make sure. If I will get boost creep would porting the turbo and installing a 34mm wasegate flapper work? Or would it just be easier to install an external gate?

you probably shouldnt have any boost creep with stock levels on a basically stock engine. but porting the turbo wouldnt prevent creep LOL, did you mean porting the wastegate? if you put the bigger flapper in, you should be alright. also maybe look into getting an atmospheric wastegate dump tube, that will help a lot.

just make sure you get an autometer boost gauge and keep an eye on things.

You shouldn't get creep with the 2.5 inch exhaust. I would port the wastegate passage just in case though. No need to put a 34mm flapper on it though. An external will guarantee boost control with any turbo you have and any exhaust you have so it is the best way but is not needed.
