will jumped timing cause low compression numbers when you compression check the motor. sorry i know i shouldnt of posted here but its a very simple question that probably has been answered before but i couldnt find what i was looking for

low compression can mean a number of things like bad/worn piston rings all the way down bent valves.

do a compression test and see what each piston yields. doing that you can know what condition your engine is in.

if you checked your timing and it is off by more then a few teeths, more or less your valves can be bent...

goodluck.
later.
