i've had an idle surge and engine stall problem when im trying to stop or just sitting still. im plannin on gettin an safc II black edition preferably, but if i get one will this fix those two problems. this is a real nuissance <--spell check, especially when im speddin around town and my car just dies or if im in a rush to get to work and the car dies and takes like 3 minutes to get started again, or if i get to the checkpoint gate an my car stalls. sny knowledge on this question would be greatly appreciated and may help with my sigh of relief

i only have a full turbo back 3" exhaust, and apexi n1 exhaust. and i've already changed the idle air control (iac) motor. and still nothing

I would change out your o2 sensor and check the connection on your MAF and make sure it's plugged in nice and tight. Is your car throwing a CEL?

1. Check plugs and wires, make sure plug is gapped correctly.

2. Check for boost/vacuum leak.

3. Are you venting your BOV?

4. Do what ddavisaf said, make sure the maf is plugged in and no leaks on the couplers around the intake pipe.

Good luck.

okay thats one of my next steps as soon as i get my car back; check for vaccuum leaks. and then check my lines and plugs and mas. and no i dont think i am ventin to the atmosphere. i will have to do a search to figure out how to tell if i am or not. thanks, this should give me somethin to do for a lil bit

Locate your BOV on your upper intercooler pipe and see if the outlet on the BOV is open to the air (atmosphere) or is routed back into the intake via a tube. Also, if you hear a loud hiss (typical BOV noise) when you let off the gas, you are probably venting to atmosphere.

okay, im takin all ur responses into consideration and compilin them into a list of things for me to do. but i just remembered somethin and thought i would put it in here, dont know if it helps or not. but i know that im runnin super rich. sometimes my cars starts boggin and i cant get goin over 20mph and if i push on the gas to try to make it go faster it drops down to like 3-400rpm like it's gonna die. i have put brand new spark plugs in and let it idle for about 10-15 minutes and re-checked the spark plugs and they were already bad. dont know if this affects my idle problem or not.

You'll run rich if your MAF isn't working properly. Also if your O2's are bad. You've got two. One on the O2 Housing (Convient huh?) And another further down your exhaust. Replace the one on your housing first since that's the more important of the two. The second if simply to verify the first one is working. This is of course AFTER you check for vaccume and boost leaks. If your car is stock I doubt you'll be running open atmosphere, so that prolly rules out one possibility. Check it anyway. Like cdct99 said, make sure there is a tube going from the valve to the intake manifold. If you need to know how to make a IC Leak Tester goto IC Pipe Tester and it'll give you step by step instructions. Let us know what you find out, or if you need help with any of the steps. Post back.

how would i check if my maf is workin properly or not. i am goin to attemp to try a lot of these theories today after i get off work while my engine pieces are still apart and all over the place

Smack it. If it changes idle, the maf is bad. LOL

Or start the car, un plug the maf, if nothing changes then it's quite possible the MAF is bad. Before you plug the sensor back in, check and make sure that none of the connectors are bent burnt or broken and make sure there's isn't anything that would cause the connectors to not touch.
