Will an EVO 8 BOV Fit My Car Directly?

Title says it all! I need a new BOV for my car and am too cheap to spend lots of money. It would be useless too because the car is going so stay stock. My car's a 2G.

Thinking of getting this:

Will it fit in my car directly? I am 95% sure it will but want to confirm before breaking out the dough.

Just get a 1G Bov. It wont just bolt up. Look at the mounting for the stock BOV then the EVO 8 not even close to the same.

My BOV doesn't even use bolts... I slip it on a couple tubes and tighten down a few screws. It looks exactly the same to me.

Just as the above post mentioned, check to see if the mounting holes match up on the uicp flange to the bov. Also check if the diaphragm of the EVO bov is completely sealed by the flange also.

Actually, I take back what i said after viewing the link in your first post. you just need a rubber tubing and clamps to put the EVO bov in might as well Do it since they hold stock 17-22psi for the EVO if your not going over that amount of boost.

The Evo VIII and IX bov's will fit a 2g with no issues, but don't plan on the one from the VIII being much of an upgrade. The Evo IX stock valve is metal however and is a direct replacement on a 2g that uncrushed or unmodded will hold more boost without leaking than a 1g valve.

Yup. The only thing you need to be wary of is clearance between the top of the BOV and the hood. Cut the coupler so that the bottom of the BOV is basically sitting directly on the flange of the UICP.

That's what I thought. I have put in a Evo 9 BOV in my car with no issues at all. Romeen, you're saying that the EVO 8 is taller and I need to cut something though? Can anyone else confirm/reject this?

To be honest I'm not positive. I had seen a plastic EVO 8 BOV next to a metal EVO 9. This was a couple years ago and I want to say they were very similar as far as height but I never did an actual measurement. But if you had no issues with the EVO 9 BOV then you will probably be ok. I'm just recommending to play it safe and cut the coupler so that you end up with as little space as possible between the BOV and UICP to keep the BOV sitting lower. Just check for clearance the first time you shut your hood after the install. I doubt you will have any problems.

I'm using an EVO X BOV (same as 9 except the vacuum nipple is oriented in a different direction). I had the bottom portion of the BOV with the 3 bolt flange welded to the UICP and then bolted the BOV to it. This allows the BOV to sit lower since I don't need the extra extension to attach a coupler. The top of my BOV clears the hood with probably less than 1/2" (eyeballing it).

Ok I got the BOV this morning. It is exactly the same size/shape as the EVO 9 BOV except plastic instead of metal. Both will fit on the car.

The only difference is the small recirculating hose connector is located at 10 o'clock on the valve instead of 3 o'clock like on the OEM valve. This just means that you have to twist the hose around to the other side of the valve. There's enough slack in the hose to do this and still leave it sitting in a good position.

To sum up, if you are looking for an inexpensive, easy-to-replace BOV to put on a car running stock boost the EVO 8 or EVO 9 valves are fine.

I got mine for $30 shipped with just a few thousand miles of use.
