will an automatic ecu work same as a maunual trans?

hey guys, i just found out on the codes that i need another ecu. i was woundering if an automatic ecu will work on my laser thats a manual trany.

I think the 1g autos used 390 injectors. It would probably still run, but it would burn even richer than stock.

Edit: Sorry, just saw that you have an NT. That ecu is probably a different beast. Ignore my post.

Assuming no injector differences like the abov post, yes. The ECU does not control the transmission, the TCU does that in an automatic transmission.

i thought it was gona be a difference because of the safety switch locaded differently on the manual and the automatic. i thought the computer controled all that. doesnt it? coming to a conclusion that the car wouldnt start.

I was always under the impression that you couldnt switch manual for automatic and vice versa. If you dont know for sure, I would say better safe than sorry...

You'll note that for 1G NT cars the manual version and automatic version ECU is the same all the way down to the part number. Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference

All the rest of the guys are thinking about the rules for the turbo cars.

its says your a nt w turbo so im not sure if this for a turbo car or not but i have used a auto ecu in a manual and they work fine also that very auto ecu was eprom
