Will adding an aftermarket fuel pump and injectors require tuning?

I'm looking to buy a Walbro 190 pump and 550 injectors. I'm not going to be getting an SAFC for a little while longer. But if I were to install the pump and injectors will that mess up anything as far as daily driving goes? Will it need to be tuned? Or can I just put those in and drive my car like normal. I don't plan on turning up any more boost past 15 psi. Any insight would be appreciated.

You're going to be running really, really rich with 550s and no fuel control. So rich that the back of the car will turn black and it'll run really badly.

Unless you have an upgraded turbo, there's no real reason to put 550s in the car.

If you only want to run 15lbs of boost then you don't need to upgrade your injectors. If I were you (judging by your wishlist) I would get a catback instead of injectors, or if you have a catback, then a downpipe.

Or go with a MAF conversion, then you will have fuel tuning capability when you are ready to upgrade your injectors.

Just wait to put them in until you get your whole setup to support eachother. You will have less headaches that way.:thumb:

just wanted to know if i will notice any difference if i put a 255 fuel pump in with full exhaust, intake, mbc, and boost gauge?

yeah, instead of that, id recommend getting the maf translator and a gm maf for a number of reasons...
1. your car will run fine with it and a little tuning
2. you can do vent to atmosphere setup
3. if you put the maf after the turbo, near the intake manifold, your car can run even if you blow off your ic piping or something (which is nice if you are often late for where ever it is you are going and know you will never have enough time to open the hood and find tools to put your ic pipes back on.)
4. you get a wide open maf!

You're going to have nasty partial throttle response. And run rich. 255 pump w/o a afpr is going to make for a relatively un-enjoyable ride. I have 550's, a 255 and no afpr and it sucks.

a blow through maf setup is good, but i dont think he is at that point yet. thats something you would do much later, pretty much only reason for him to do it now is for the BOV noise...

yeah, but if he gets the translator and stuff then he doesnt need an afc right away and he doesnt have to get into tuning and stuff.

As long as you use a LOW PRESSURE 255 pump and have a way to tune te fuel, you will be "OK" without an AFPR.

I am runnning a 255 LP pump with NO afpr and I am not hating my ride. I could probly get a better tune with an AFPR, but as for now I am saving for one.
