Will a SAFC be beneficial on a stock car?

I have a friend that has no use for his APEXi SAFC... so he said I could use it. My car is pretty much stock, besides various "free" mods, so would it be wise to install the SAFC now? Or wait a while to install it? I don't have an EGT or A/F gauge at the moment... would that really matter?

Thanks

You could instal it, and be VERY conservative and use a logger as well.

Alright, what are you meaning by conservative though? I plan on running the recommended settings, nothing crazy for now...

Basically what I meant by "conservative" only with a logger. ;) Recommended does not mean right.

Don't bother with recommended settings, they're close to useless especially on a stock car.

If you want to use a SAFC, so be it. However, you need to tune it properly, with at least a logger. You stand to gain a little bit of power, yes.

Please use a more descriptive thread title, such as "Will a SAFC be beneficial on a stock car?"

Excellent. Things like that go a long way to making the search function useful.

drc1, just make note of this for future reference.

Sorry guys, I really wasn't thinking. I'll make sure to put a more descriptive title in the future. As for the install of the SAFC, do I need to remove the ECU to access the wires? I didn't really look at it in detail and haven't found a faq regarding the access of the ECU. I know that it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I'm at college and don't have many tools with me (namely a socket set). Though I could buy one for pretty cheap, I'm just wondering if it's possible to leave it intact and still unplug the connectors.

Thanks a lot

No you should be able to just unplug the harness to give you enough play to access the individual wires needed for install.

True...BUT, it will be easier if you pull down the carpet on the passenger side a bit to get to the wiring bundle. Slack goes from 1in to about 5in. :thumb:

You want to pull the ECU into the passenger side footwell, and then you also want to cut a clip the holds the harness down to the floor so you have more of it.

You're going to want to solder all the connections, so if you don't have a soldering iron don't even try until you do.
