Resolved Will 1g fwd tranny go into a 2g with fwd?

Think my tranny is about shot!!! I know where another one is that's in perfect shape. Question is, will it fit? I need to know asap cause I'm off tomorrow and trying to make it happen. Thanks.

Nope but it would work in the other direction.. 2g trannies work in 1gs

Sorry, double posted somehow.

Tried to post again last night but it didn't go thru for whatever reason.

So anyway, I know the 1g tranny has a mount in the front, one in the rear, and one on the top. Whereas the 2g tranny only has the one on the top. I don't have both models in front of me to look at the differences so can someone help me out here? What's the differences that keep a 1g tranny from being bolted up? I searched and see people saying it won't work but no explanation as to why. Hell, I'd think that I could just bolt it up to the motor and not use the front and rear mount if that's all it is. I dunno.

Anyway, if they won't bolt up the same, could I just swap the internals? That'd be easy enough to do. I also have a 2g awd tranny I've been wanting to use for an awd swap but don't have a vce yet. Will the gearset from it swap out to the fwd tranny? Or is that totally different as well? Needing to look at options cause I'm low on cash, think my tranny is crap (previous owner was an idiot and the 2nd gear syncro has been bad for awhile now and has been grinding), and this is my DD for now. Need help. Thanks.

Actually, The front and rear mounts on a 1g are on the engine. On a 2g they're on the transmission. that's why a 1g tranny won't work on a 2g. There's no mount points on a 1g transmission.

Yeah, I stepped outside and looked this morning and kicked myself in the butt. Was thinking of it the opposite way. Still wondering if the internals will interchange though.
