Well I just bout a 90 GSX that needed a clutch. I took everything apart found it needed axles too. The car wouldn't move when in gear at all. I installed the new clutch and new axles then put the car back together. After I got it all back together I took it out for a drive. It drove and shifted perfect no problems at all. I went to drive it today maybe moved 20 feet and it stopped dead would not move forward or back almost like the same problem before the new clutch install. It did not slip AT ALL prior to this as I just put the clutch in yesterday. I'm stumped as to what's going on.

I know how to break in a clutch and yes did stay out of boost. The car moves after I let it sit. I got out there today moved it forwards and back maybe 3 times and it just locked up. I sat for maybe 1 minute moved it forward and back again then it locked up again. Each stop it stops there is a clunk and it stops dead in its tracks. I was looking more towards clutch "pump up". This really is driving me nuts. I'd like to get this car on the road soon so I can finish my VR6.

Everyone else stumped?

Both are good as I did check for pump up. I'm going to bleed the entire system due to the fact the car sat for months before I bought it. The fluid in the master cylinder looks pretty bad. I asked around and a few friends suggested the shifter cables. When the car stops it's almost as if it's popping out of gear. The actual shifter in the passenger compartment stays in gear but the trans is out of gear? This is the first car to actually stump me LOL and it's a good one at that. I'm going to check it out again today and bleed the system. I will let you guys know the results!

Have you given thought to the fact that this could be your transfer case going out? If they go, they will lock up your rear tires and your car won't move. Could be something worth checking.

Found the problem. I got under the car today to find the intermediate shaft was slightly out of the trans. The p.o. broke the bolts holding it to the block causing it to pop out. I installed new bolts and the problem is fixed. I feel like a tool for over looking this. Now to fix the rest of the problems. P.o. cut the coolant temp sensor plug off and now when the vehicle gets to operating temp it begins to carry on. Ahhh the beauty of project cars LOL
