The problem is with my 93 Talon DL. For a long time the clutch pedal has felt soft until almost to the floor, then it sorta clicks or had a notchiness to it. At times when accelerating or decelerating the clutch would lose pressure and make it difficult to move into place. While there has never been any leaking, the fluid gets dark pretty quick. A closer look at the slave showed that the boot was worn and would constantly pop off. I figured that was the source of the crud in the fluid. (see pic)

I flushed and bled it clean, but the problem resurfaced quick and has become worse. A local DSM guy gave me a spare slave to try and after installing it, the problem is even worse now. I made sure to bleed a large bottle of fluid through it, but now the clutch won't disengage at all. With that, the pedal is MUCH firmer and doesn't seem to travel far enough before the firewall flexes. Under the car, I can press the slave rod in by hand and it is very slow to return out. Does that mean this is a bad slave? I can not figure out how this can be fixed, but I will probably go ahead and order a new slave.

The part that gets me is how wrong the clutch pedal has felt both times. Also, right now, when the pedal is pressed, the slave barely moves.

the slave right now looks like this, but I don't remember the pedal not coming back up. I will check that.

also, here is the picture of how the fluid gets.

I am a 2g guy so dont yell, but theres a screw and rod on the back of the clutch pedal and you can turn to the rod to right and left that will adjust the release point in the clutch. I am not 100% if 1g's have that but does not hurt to take a look.

Figured it out. The pedal is the problem. Go figure. I am trying a search right now, but does anyone have a quick way to fix this, even if it comes back? I need this running as fast as possible.

Thanks!

The plastic bushings wear out in the clutch pedal assembly and some other stuff is weak too.

The test, hold the lever arm that the master cylinder rod hooks too with one hand. With your other hand move the pedal. Can you pull up the pedal without moving the master cylinder rod? If yes, it needs repairs. Having the clutch engauge right off the floor kills syncros and its just a steep slope of destruction

Where can I get the replacement bushings? I am still learning all the ropes of DSM land.

So I just installed the rebuilt pedal and still have a problem. The pedal becomes too stiff to go to the floor. I can go to the slave cylinder, press the rod back into the slave and it doesn't come back out. When I go back inside, I can easily press the pedal all the way to the floor twice before the pedal gets stiff again and I am back at square one. What would cause this, or how can I test to see what the problem is?

I did check and both the stop, and the master rod are backed out to the max. Here is a video of the slave as I press the pedal.

I will try a new slave to see if that fixes the problem.
