widest tire i can go on stock 17 inch 2g rims?

Just as the title says, I was wondering what is the widest size tire I can go with for the 2g stock 17 inch rims. My car has the stock suspension so I have the normal ride height. Thanks!

The largest size tire you would want to put on a 2g gsx 17x6.5" wheel is a 225/45/17.

I've seen a picture of someone with 235's, but it was dumb. For a while I ran 205/50/17's and they were dandy, actually. Plenty for a DD, you'd want more if you have other goals.
