Wich intercooler and do i need anything else?

If you are on the stock T-25 you will actualy HURT performance with a large core. You are better to save your money and invest into a full exhaust system, open element filter and your maintance and repairs.

The t-25 doesn't exactly push much air and the stock side mount cools it off fine. You'll be hard pressed to heat soak the SMIC with the tiny turbo. Even members with Evo 3 16g continue to use the SMIC at times because it still cools down the air charge for a couple hard runs before heat soaking.

With a large core, you will loose air pressure and velocity to the intake manifold. It will create lag and no extra power for you. Sure it looks nice, but you won't gain anything by putting that on now.

Besides, there are cheaper kits out there if you search. Follow the upgrade path and you'll be better off.

If your car is stock, then it is a T25. Getting a FMIC right now is pointless. Custom pipes suck when you just have to switch them over after a simple bolt-on turbo. That's part of the reason I went with a Supra SMIC on a 14b, I plan on swapping to a 20g turbo later. Not much to switch around pipe wise.

If I were you and you really want a FMIC, go with ebay or something less than $300 please. Do not be that guy thinking expensive parts make you go faster.

Doubtful you will see any power gains with a FMIC on a stock car. In fact, you might actually make less power with a bigger fmic on a T25 than on the stock sidemount, which is typically good to around 300ish horsepower. Wait untill you are running a bigger turbo, and for now put the money you have into more important mods like a logger, upgrade your fuel system, bigger injectors, resistor pack and a nice ems like dsmlink or at least a flashed ECU. Then save up for a bigger turbo and once there is a need for it, buy the fmic setup. Logger is probably the most important as it lets you see how the car reacts to other upgrades. A Fmic is a must for higher powered DSMs and sure looks cool, but is simply unnecessary for your car right now. Unnecesary to the point where it might even slow the car down without other supporting mods and a tune. Follow the upgrade paths on this site, it will give you a good idea on what supporting mods you need before any major upgrades. Good luck with your car.

holy moly

That list just goes on and on....with my ( obviously ) lack of knowledge about cars this would become an expensive plan to see through , wanted to go from the stock 215hp to around 280-300hp.

as i would need a mechanic to do all the work, its just not worth it

i had hoped there would just be one item or an easy method to increase my hp with about 30-60 hp , bolt on tech

+1 on the exhaust

It does cost money to make power. You CAN hit 300ish for cheap if you know how to shop for used parts but of course that's all after your maintenance needs first. Get yourself a full timing belt kit and get that replaced if you don't know when it was last done. That also includes the balance shaft belt if you still have the balance shafts. Replace all vacuum lines and coolant hoses. Do a boost leak test and fix any possible leaks.

You can get a MBC and raise the boost to 15psi safely on the stock turbo before you start blowing hot air because you are out of the efficiency range and your injectors can still compensate for the 15psi the T-25 flows.

First mod for anyone on here should be an accurate boost gauge. Doesn't matter if it's electronic or mechanical, as long as it works. The stock "boost gauge" isn't accurate for poo. It's just a needle that moves up and down from voltage readings from the ECU. It's only good to show that you are going into a more positive pressure but other than that, nothing.

Do a lot of reading and learn the beast before you try to tame it as the saying goes.

VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions has good info as well as the Search feature using "search by title" will really narrow down the information you want to find.

Follow the upgrade path and listen to what knowledgeable members have to say. Everyone starts somewhere and we all started where you were at one point. Take your time and do things right.

I would use the money for some bolt-ons and METH INJECTION!!!

Until he is running high boost and having knocking problems Meth is not needed either. It's good to have to keep the cylinder temps down, but he won't be able to utilize it to an extent of making it worth the money while being limited to stock fuel and boost levels.

Another +1 on the exhaust... A nice turbo back exhaust will most likley give you the most power. followed by a nice Air intake and a MBC.. would be the route i would go.. but for sure ALL MAINTANCE should be done first.

And if you stick to the classifides you can find stuff like dsmdriver said 14b's 16g's for cheap.. i got pretty much my whole new setup from the forums :thumb: minus the FPR LOL.. the forums are your new best frind bro :hellyeah:

dont give up on your car, this is not a honda that has a very forgiving engine. DSMs require supporting mods to run big upgrades, otherwise they blow up. There is a cheap way to get 280 out of your car, however you gonna want more after a while, and then you will need to spend even more money since you didnt follow the upgrade paths. Everyone will tell you to get supporting mods first, because they all have been through thinking that 300 will be enough and going the cheap way, then spend alot more when the 300 isnt enough anymore. If you want a quick way to make around 300, buy a nice turbo back exhaust, manual boost controller set at no more than 15 psi, cut up the aircan and put a K&N cone on the intake. Just these should give you around 280-300. And also dont forget to junk the stock "boost gauge" and buy a nice aftermarket one. And a WIDEBAND o2, not air/fuel gauge.

if i have 280 im satesfied, for several reasons

But the most important reason is that in Norway where i live there are about...5 GSX's. We get pulled over....alot.
And they test the engine when they pull u over, you get 1000NOK in fine pr hp over stock hp. 1000NOK = 200$ . So if i get caught with 320hp i would have to pay a fine around 20-25000$ to get my car back.
Just not worth it.

I'll start doing the standard maintenance , timing belt etc and i will hit you guys back on what to do next , open to any suggestions

yea sure if you have 280 then maybe they wont give you any trouble, but if you have 580, good luck trying to catch you haha
