Why wont it fit?

Ok so here it is i bought a tranny from someone through the classifieds for my 91 gsx. His user name is dirtygermankid well went to philly got the parts he was selling me. Tranny,x-case,pedels and starter. so today i bolted the flywheel up that i just got resurfaced, bolted the clutch up. then i put the tranny up. then i try to slide the spline in and the tranny wont fit. so i take the tranny back out i took the clutch off and the flywheel. i bolted them together and i stood the tranny straight up tryed to place the flywheel and clutch on the flywheel wont fit in the tranny

First of all, all you have to do is put clutch disk on the tranny input shaft. All years of DSMs have same spline count there, so either your clutch disk is incorrect, or the tranny isn't a DSM.
Count splines on the tranny, and then grooves on the clutch. They should match.

Its weird i ordered the clutch from clutch express. it is a spec stage 1 clutch the clutch will fit in the tranny but the flywheel will not fit in the tranny it hits the edges of the tranny all the way around buy about a 1/16 of an inch. i just read a tread that said a non turbo tranny is almost an inch small and will not fit around awd flywheel.

Well, do you see an output shaft for transfer case there? That shoud've rang a bell.

There is an output shaft that is what is Pi$$/ng me off so much and the clutch is right it fits on the flywheel so nice i cant figure this out i dont kno what to do mabey oldman knows

Well, FWD flywheel is bigger in diameter then AWD, so it looks like you have FWD flywheel.

Why don't you post a pic of the back-side of it, I can tall you for sure then.

Well, do you see an output shaft for transfer case there? That shoud've rang a bell.

Or you got a fwd n/t tranny. The fwd turbo flywheel is larger in diameter than the fwd n/t and awd flywheels.

well then why dose the clutch fit on it like it dose i would think if the flywheel bigger clutch would be too small

I guess FWD N/T tranny isn't a problem here, since he said that it does have an output shaft. The only possible explanation then is FWD turbo flywheel.

it proly is a fwd flywheel guess i go to the junk yard tomorrow try and find one well theres one there i just hope its still there....
