the question is simply as the title states why the heck do the 2g eclipse weigh so much they look so small they are 2 doors it just doesnt seem right that they weigh as much as they do?.... maybe i do not know what i am talking about, but then again thats why i posted in the newbie forum....

Well there no Honda thats for sure. They are heavy, although small, because for the most, are pretty well built cars. For the most part, they have a decent frame underneath, and all the drivetrain and control arms, etc. are built pretty beefy overall. And then you get into the turbo models. Especially the AWD model, your adding on 300 pounds, plus. You have a larger tranny, a transfer case, a driveshaft, rear differential, rear axles, and extra conrol arms' and stuff in the back.

hmmm well at least it will never fall apart.... the way it sounds it better never fall apart but hey its not a problem when i get the hrc stage 2 my life will be complete.....

i always thought it would be cool to utilize everything you could possibly do to make a car incredible.... for example make the whole body out of a carbon creation here.... http://www.science.psu.edu/alert/Crespi9-2001.htm and make it an eclipse and remake the engine to be incredibly strong and make it like a 3 liter 4 cylinder turbo charged and super charge to eliminate the lag and just everything else you know? that would be incredible...if i had unlimited funds.... but i do not!

I suspect the weight in such a relatively small car comes from the curves, the big curved front and back glass. There's also other variables but the curvaciousness of the "muscular" styling kinda hurts, LOL. Now if the car had dry carbon used for the body, now that would be nice.

As much as we beat ourselves in the brain with the equasion of power to weight ratio; it wasn't the mathematical breakdown of the car that sold it for me. Besides, is it just me or do car manufacturers just keep pushing power to weight futher and further down the list of importance. ! I do like how theres not much wind resistance though.
