Why do my 60' times suck?

It seems no matter what I do or what I try I'm stuck with 1.9xx 60' times.

Last year on 18's with kumho 712's and stock clutch I was doing 1.9's, then I went to a 2600 and was getting 1.8's (5000ish and quickly slip the clutch)

This Year I went with some 17's in hopes that more rubber would help bring down the 60' times. (same kind of tire BTW)

Well now, no matter what I do 5000-5500 quick slip, slow slip, 6000 dump I always get 1.9xx heck even sometimes I get 2.00x

Out of about 35 drag launches this year I have managed 2 1.8's...I just don't get it.

Any one have any thoughts??
 
you prolly have more horsepower now then last year and its harder to hook up your FWD?
 
went to track 1st time ever to race and best I got with AWD was 2.25 60ft. Only got 3 runs, very crowded. Got a 13.89 1/4 on that one at 20 psi w/ race gas, 14b. I suck launching, whats an average/good 60ft time for an awd with stock clutch?
 
Oh I see, you run pump gas? Is the 14.5 your best time? try some race gas, my 1st 2 runs only hit 19 psi, I was moving the hallman in slowly (too slowly) I wanted to run like 22-23psi but only got 3 runs and never had the chance to dial it in. The 13.89 came at 20psi with a 2.25 60ft. I still have 4 gallons in the tank so Ill set it before i go next. Race gas is the shit at 20 psi I got like 3 knock above 6500rpm and like 22* advance up to 6K rpm. I got the 103 unleaded, 5 gallons + 1gal. of 94 left in tank. I heard leaded will clog up the pick up filter in the tank, atco has up to 120 oct leaded though.

So a good stock clutch awd time is about 1.7-1.8?

EDIT: nevermind about the 14.5, I see your 2G T25, thought you were 1G

I just pulled a 1.711 on a stock clutch and tires with about 40% tread on them.
 
with my stock clutch basic mods such as K&N,mbc set at 14-15 psi intercooler Pipes, and free mods with my t-25 my best run was a 14.00 @ 96.7 with a 1.988 60ft. After that i just didnt keep the t-25 long enough to get into the 13s. im at 1200 ft elevation

will bald tires make your 60ft/launch worse? I got Kumho 712s which I hear get hard and slippery with age, with 25K miles and bad camber made the inside of all 4 bald. Im not complaining I expected about 20K out of them without camber kits.

Streetthisdsm: you have safc and 1G MAS? Lower honeycomb in or out? did that make a big difference in your times, Im on a stock 1G MAS w/ lower screen still in. I run lean and knock with lower honeycomb out on pump gas. I use an HKSFCD to beat fuel cut, knock around 10 or less @ 18psi on pump but 3 or less @20psi at track on race gas. Im getting safc/bigger inj very soon to beat fuel cut the right way. Should I go 2G MAS or keep the 1G for a while?
 
6k, pulse the gas. Let out on clutch slow soon as the car starts to go, let the clutch out the rest of the way.

Also sometimes the more power you make the better 60fts you get. Second the tire has nothing to do with 60ft as long as you are not spinning.

Iv cut a best of 1.699 with full weight 2g awd talon. With gabors clutch, and constant low 1.7's

But sometimes iv gone the track and the car just would not get out of the hole, could be track prep b/c a few times i felt the tires spinning. But for me somtimes it just wont launch, but most of the itme like 90% it will.

Silencer and lower honeycomb are out. I was getting knock at 15 psi before the S-AFC install. Since the install I can run 18-19 psi on pump gas w/o any knock. I ran 20 or so at the track with a little race gas with zero knock as well. S-AFC and a logger = GOD.
 
When I launch it feels like I spin for the first 20-30ft, then the car catches traction again and I get jerked back...almost like a second launch.
 
could be because my first launch at track I know I was spinning until 7000 rpm, I felt the car moving slightly sideways, this was a 6000rpm dump with a 3.3-3.4 60ft. time OMG

Im bringing a friend or wife to act as spotter and see if I spin or what during launch.
 
the problem can be directly linked to your 712's, i've seen many a car spin the hell out of those. they're very hard and greasy when they get hot.
 
check into the yokohama avs es-100's i've hear nothing but good things about these considering their price. there are stickier tires, but they're more expensive as well.
