why do 1 gens sound sooo sweet

A buddy of mine had a 3" full system on his scooby w/perlin up pipe....nothing i have ever heard compares to it, not even ls1s......except my open downpipe muhahahahaha

wtf is perlin? you mean perrin? anyways we just all know that 1gs are better... right guys..... jk. every week there is a meet of wrx at schaumburg, IL. i've never heard a wrx sound anything like a dsm with 272/272 and a turbo back. Seriously if you've ever heard a truck with only a glass pack then it sounds exactly like a wrx.

Yea WRXs are wicked deep when they have big exhaust on them. But how can anyone compare an I4 with a HO4? They are so different it's like comparing with a rotary. WRXs sound phat and lopey from the factory

Its mica yellow, not blaze (not trying to be a dick). You were dead on with the 450, and that was in 93 only.

A 1g's exhaust is damn near straight, with a couple bends in it, and with a nice high flowing muffler, it'll sound meaner than say a FWD that has all those crazy bends that do muffle the sound of the exhaust as the gases change direction. I'm also thinking that the cat's in the early cars aren't as advanced as in the newer generation, which could emit a different sound. anyways, FWD to AWD is the only way i can see you guys hearing a difference. AWD to AWD 1st to 2nd gens, there really isn't much difference in how the exhaust is made, except the side it exits.

Hmm, have you ever looked at the difference between the 1g and 2g exhaust? There is quite a bit of difference, the 2g is a lot straighter. The 1gs have to go all of the way over to the other side of the car and around the differential, while the 2gs can just about go straight back.

And with a little modification to the underside of the car, you can make your exhaust go straight back on a 2g.

Correct me if i'm wrong but on a 1g awd, after the cat its straight back, it goes under the rear axles. On a 1g fwd (like mine) it goes up over the rear axle, it has a lot more bends.
