Why aren't Laser owners proud of there car?

I was just looking through the classifieds for fun, and it seemed like every other Laser I saw was redone to look like a Talon or Eclipse. My question is why? What's wrong with owning a Laser? I'm personally very happy to have my Laser. Is it just for looks, or is it because the "kids" know the names Talon, and Eclipse better? No big deal, it just kinda annoys me, and I was curious what you guys thought.

I like my laser, and I'm proud of it. I definitely like the cosmetic differences of it compared to the Talon/Eclipse. To me the subtle differences make it look better. (Or maybe that's just because it's my car, and I always like my car more.. hahaha)

Yeah, I really like the smooth front end of my car compared to the "grills" of the others. But as you say that could just be 'cuz its my car!(I also like the taillights alot more!)

Has nothing to do with popular or name recognition. The lack of wicked cool spoiler astheticly is a turn off. The ones with the laser spoiler don't look bad IMO..but the shape the body takes on with the Talon/Eclipse spoiler is what really "does it" for me. Lack of side skirts is a turn off too, they look sexy. The one I have..and many I've seen have that black stripe that doesn't match the paint. Just not my flavor...

Some people dig the euro laser look. Thats cool, I'd never say anything bad about a laser other than saying I prefer the Eclipse/Talon.

Ok, I'll buy the spoiler deal (I'm lucky mine has the Eclipse/Talon style spoiler), but why not just replace the spoiler? People go whole hog, replacing the front end, taillights, and whatever else. I just don't understand why they didn't buy a Talon/Eclipse in the first place, as there are many more around than Lasers (I think). Also, I am not trying to say anything bad about Eclipses or Talons, I first fell in love with DSMs when my step mom got a 1 year old 1991 GSX, and I would gladly own either one.

I get joked on at work about my car. They are just messing' I guess - they drive caddies and talk about hydros all day and don't really understand what it feels like when your on the high-way and boost kicks in...

The name seems childish to me - I feel retarded when I tell someone I have a 'laser' in general - then most people dont know, but you can see the look in their eye... they are in the back of their head thinking "... Ok whats a laser? Uh... whats it look like?"

None the less, its a laser - and always will be. I'll be doing afew shavings just to get none DSMs asking. (Car was also rear ended so now it has a 1992 Rear end / spoiler on it - which I like. Maybe I can start a trend!)

Ever seen the mounting brackets and holes for the spoiler? Putting the spoiler on like they did in the factory involves cutting lots of holes that have to be in just the right spot and I think they are square holes. I'm going to do it getto and JB weld the one on my laser.

thats why alot of people convert right before selling it... makes it worth much much more to a sellers perspective.

Yeah, I know Lasers seem to have a lower resale value, but isn't selling it as an Eclipse, when its really a Laser, false advertising or misrepresentation? And how much money does it cost to convert? Is it worth it?

IMO the 2004 Laser RS AWD (with the gold mesh rims) was the best looking of all the 1GB's.

I love my Laser. It is a 90 so its FWD but I had so much fun it that car. It had all the power options, steel wheels with hubcaps , mudflaps , but no spoiler. Made for a great sleeper. I still have it and will make it a sweet highway beast once tha Talon is done.

I was actually thinking about doing that but the car is to mint to let it go. My Grandparents were the original owners, has 95k on it, never been in an accident, and so on. There is nothing wrong with it other than a balance shaft bearing. Once I get that fixed it will be back on the road. Sorry.

Damn skippy I'm gunna JB weld it on. Either that or some high strength Epoxy that I have.

Well I can't say I'm going to do that for sure. I was considering pop rivets.

I know the Epoxy will hold. I've glued things that undergo far more stress and temperature changes with JB and this epoxy. Maybe a few pop rivets with the epoxy for saftey. Sure it sounds Getto but I'm pretty sure it'll be a good solid job.

I don't have a Laser, but I bought my car new in 95. I chose a Talon over an Eclipse because they were the same machines, only the Talon was a lot cheaper!

When I had my Laser, and I would talk to people about what kind of car I have, I would say " Yeah its a Laser, and 99.9 % of the time would be, " what?, a BLAZER?"

i like the looks of the laser. one of those cars in the classifieds is mine, but when i bought it, it already had the talon/eclipse spoiler which i like. It also had the talon center tail and front grill which i could do with out, but wouldn't the grill give a tiny bit more air flow for the front end? if i had my choice i would have just kept it a laser and put the talon/eclipse spoiler on. but oh well.

I'm proud of my laser,i was in love with it the first time i seen it,so i talked the guy into selling it to me.its the only one i seen in my town with the wing on it and turbo so i must say i have a car that know own else has which is cool. yeah its front wheel drive and some suspension mods will help it out and yeah its old but new motor will help that and of course its fast...love it but a 4 wheel drive is much better....you just do what you gotta do to get things goin in the right direction.its all good here just need to get a killer body kit and im good as gold.and yes ill proudly keep it a laser and tell everyone its a laser...thats right
