Just kinda curious to see the performance increase when a 14b is put on a 2g and runs liek 15psi? Obviously it's just not a stock 2g with a 14b on it of course. I am looking for people with a full exhuast and some other minor upgrades. Thanks guys. I just want to know if its really worth it to go from the T25 to the 14b. Thanks

I was running a 14b on mine before it blew and i got a evoIII 16g. The 14b is a big step up from the t25. Definately worth the modifications needed to make it fit right.

Plus when it blows you can just swap in a brand new 16g or something of that sort since you'll already be set up for it

Look at my list of mods, the SAFC and the 14b was my last mods and the 14b made a HUGE difference, before I couldn't pull on my friends mustang in the high end because my turbo would shit out but now I hang with him all the way. It's nice to get respect from local v8s because word gets around fast about your car in a small town. :thumb:

When my T25 died, I put the 14b on, but was still using the stock boost control solenoid, so it limited my boost to 8 psi, down from 12/13 psi. The car was faster at 8psi than it was on the T25's 12psi. :) Once I got my TurboXS MBC, I turned boost up to 14-15 and have been having fun ever since. I found it in a junkyard and paid about $100 for it. You really can't beat that.

the 14b on my car the one time i got it up to 15psi it pulled so hard. I was shocked that it was that much of a difference. Anyhow i would recomend it for sure. But now i can't get over 12 it still pulls hard but its completely different from 15. I hope that i can get it over that hill again sometime soon.

would a turbo upgrade be worth doing to a 7 bolt? or should the money go towards swapping for a 6 bolt then upgrade the turbo on there?

wat is needed to upgrade to a 14b? is it worth doing so on a 7bolt jdm?

it's just like doing a 16G install on a 2G, it has been discussed several times already. check the VFAQ. 92-94's are 7-bolts and came with 14b's...... many people have upgraded turbos on 7-bolts.

hmmmm, interesting to know. i was not aware that some 1g's came with 7 bolt motors......
i meant is it worth doing with the crankwalk issue..... im not 100% sure what im talking about, im still a newb

I plan on doing the 14B swap. Just waiting to find one that is in good shape for a reasonable price. There is a little involved with the swap but not much. You can buy kits to do it or find everything yourself.. I am going 3 inch exhaust because I know I am getting a 14B sometime soon.. Hope that helps. .TTY

i can't wait until i get mine put on! i paid $20 for one with the wastegate welded shut and no shaft play, then i found a guy that gave me a free exhaust housing and wastegate. i got a perfectly good 14b for $20, cant beat that! just waiting on my j pipe and downpipe! i need a fmic soon tho, my sidemount is a bit bent up.

It IS worth doing the swap, trust me. One thing you may want to consider is doing the porting. I did my own using an air-powered grinder, a grinding burr, and a smoothing stone. Porting the exhaust inlet and step turned out awesomely for my first time ever porting anything. I also ported the wastegate opening so the arm would have more room to open. Use the 2g O2 sensor housing, as it is already the right shape and flows more. RRE sells a complete kit for the install, which is what I used. I didn't want to bother with bending or swapping the water lines, so the kit solves that problem, and it includes the J pipe and L pipe that you'll need to get to the SMIC.

The 14b is a great upgrade especially if you can't upgrage a lot of other stuff at the same time. I run a dual MBC - one setting stock and one setting at 15. The stock 14b psi setting of 8 psi felt faster than the higher psi 12-13 psi on the smaller T25. But more power (you can definitely feel) is there vs the stock T25. According to informed sources, the SMIC is good for 300-325 hp anyway (you don't need a FMIC yet - it can help, but you don't have to have it). You could probably get away with the stock fuel pump with the 14b (even though re-wiring is recommended as a minimum). Your stock fuel pump will be working harder with a 14b and won't last as long. If you went to a bigger turbo than 14b, your stock fuel pump won't keep up, at least not very long. I played it safe and got the 255 pump upgrade. You'd be relatively safe without an aftermarket boost guage if you run stock 14b psi, but you should always want to know where you are with respect to boost. And you'll have to get one if you turn up the boost.
I used the same RR kit since the T25 piping is different than the 14b piping, but also the Stage 2 UIP from Hahnracecraft with their modified 1G BOV (modified flange that is). You will definitely want to upgrade the 2G BOV. The guy that installed mine used the existing water lines, but used the stainless steel oil line from the kit. (I preferred the oil coming from the oil filter like the 2G is set up.) I also added an HKS catback, but still have the stock 2G O2 housing, downpipe and cat for now.
The best thing is that you can upgrade to a 16g (different size wheels inside essentially the same housing <TD-05> as the 14b) when you do other supporting mods in the future.

I'm having a lot more fun with the 14b than my old T25! :thumb:
