On my 2g Talon I am planning to throw on a 14b that I picked up. What I was wondering is would it be alright to put the 14b on my 2g with a 190 fuel pump. Do I have to have new injectors or a SAFC? Also with just a 14b and a 190 fuel pump, what psi would be safe to use?

It is fine to use the 190lph pump with your 14b. You don't need new injectors or an safc at this time but some sort of tuning would be needed if you wanted to do more modifications. The 14b is a great little turbo but for your applications on stock injectors and stock side mount, I would say stick to ~15psi for boost since your 1g bov will hold atleast that much. Do a search next time. Lots of people running the same setup as you are going to run.

A 190 lp is perfect for most all street cars. As far as injector's and an AFC, it would be greatly recommended if you plan on running more than 15-17 psi.

However on my 2g car(96 AWD, 6 bolt with basic bolt on's, 14b etc etc) i just had a rewired fuel pump and other little tricks, and i ran 17 psi every day no problem. Here's what I recommend buy the 2g 14b/16g intstall kit, 550cc injectors, S-AFC II and port the turbo. By this time you should have a strong 12 second car if tuned correctly.

I definately don't think that my car will ever see the 12's LOL. But high 13's I wouldnt mind at all. My 2g Talon is FWD and Automatic. Fully stock i ran a 15.8. That is exactly with no mods at all. Now I'll have:

Intake
2.5" DP - 3" Catback
UICP
1g BOV
Walbro 190 fuel pump
Joe P MBC
14b

That is all I have the money for right now. But with that set up there I'm hoping to be in the 14's. What you think?

Of course itd be momumental to get a 16g with 550 injectors and a SAFC, but i dont have the money for that right now.

But just curious; My T25 right now is stock at 11-12psi, how much of a dif is it from teh T25 at 12psi to the 14b at 14-15psi?

It's a pretty big difference. The 14b is a smoother spooling turbo though. Unlike the little t-25 that hits so hard but runs out at 5500. There will be a pretty significant power difference too. Make sure to port the housing out and do your manifold while you are at it. Decrease spoolup and better power too. Also if you got yourself some 550's and a tuning device of sorts...12's isn't out of the question. Maybe a shift kit too wouldn't hurt. The FWD might hurt ya but you would be a low 13 second car. I know I was a mid 12 with my GS-T with not far off of the same mods.

I run the 14b at 15psi and it pulls a lot more than my previous T25 at 12psi. I did upgrade the fuel pump, but not the FPR at this point. It runs great. I'm very happy with my hp increase. It is a big difference you can feel. I have a catback, but am running my stock O2, dp and cat. Many sources say you don't HAVE to get an AFPR until you change injector sizing. I do notice that it spools a little higher in the RPM range than the T25, but it holds power much higher and doesn't fall off like the T25 did.

I'm hoping to reach 13's with my 14b.

18psi, with a fuel pump, open o2 housing, and race gas.

You can reach 13's but I hope you have some sort of fuel controller if you are running racegas. And I wouldn't run open o2 housing. Run open downpipe. Running open o2 housing will set code's off because your car has 2 o2 sensors and plus with open o2 housing you will spike at LEAST 22-23psi and your turbo won't last more than a couple pulls if you do that. It won't change the performance any just add some backpressure. Also open o2 will most likely heatsoak the whole underhood of your car and thensome. Will actually lose power from it. I tried it once and have HUGE underhood temps.

I run a 14b at 14-15psi on a 190lph fuel pump. It really is a much smoother spool than the T25, though I rather miss that sudden jolt when it finally kicked in. :) Porting the 14b is a great idea; I did it myself and it was the first porting I've ever done. I enjoyed it immensely.
