I have seen alot of pictures of the K&N FIPK's and it seems there is for a larger filter, and i'm sure i'm not the first to notice.

If you used a bigger cone what did you use and what was the part number? it doesn't even matter what company filter you used either cause i can always cross reference part numbers.

Thanks,
defno

My filter is a 4.5" opening and 8" long. It is just a K&N filter that I ordered from the local speed shop.

Theres no disadvantage to it. The more surface area you have the less resistance there will be, and the longer the filter will last. Simply more element to get dirty....

I bought the little adapter piece with the round 4.5 inch piece off ebay for 20 bucks now I need a good filter. A giant filter.

That sounds pretty big, does it go all the way back to the fender? Got pics?

what did you search for? I've been trying to find a 4inch adapter but can't find anything. The one on my car right now looks like crap. It looks like someonmes poor attempt at fiberglassing.

It extends pretty far but not enough to interfere with the stock pipe routing if you're still using it. I can take some pics tomorrow morning before work, where I'm at right now and it'll be dark when I get home.

Flash > nighttime

Mine is a K&N 5" x 7" on a 3" Dejon intake pipe with no MAS. I can't put the intake pipe on with the filter, it's too long. I have to put the filter in, then maneuver the pipe into it. It's pretty close to hitting the fender. Pic of my engine bay in my gallery. I'm pretty sure the PFIK I had before I switched to MAFT was bigger surface area wise than this filter.b

what filter should i get for a 96 RS..i had this cheap one from autozone but it was just the filter and when the rubber tubing would get hot the filter could slide off easily even with the clamps on pretty tight..can someone hook me up with a good intake set up or maybe some part #'s to make an intake??

Sorry. I forgot before I went to work.

Dave Brode inlet. That's what I use and my filter looks to be longer than yours. How long is the FIPK filter?

I'll actually measure it once i bring the car back to the house today.

I think yours is a bit longer, but the width + the FIPK mounting tab means it only sits there and can't move anywhere else... Luckily it clears the Greedy piping by 1/8th of an inch.
