I own a 1999 saab 9-5 se with the 3.0l v-6 turbo. About a week ago it started smoking real bad, a white sulfuric smelling smoke. First I thought it was coolant except the smoke doesn't smell at all like it. Figured I'd have to change head gaskets. But a friend at work said check the turbo. Being the first turbo I have ever owned I am now not sure. In the past all white smoke was water. But it always had that sweet coolant smell.

Sulfur smells are associated with a failing/failed cat.
White smoke is water. Water is coolant.
