White or Blue turn signals?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

All over eBay, PepBoys RiceyRack, and even Wal*Mart most places anymore.

Anything other than amber will get you a nice chat with a cop. You may even be awarded a citation for them!

Or pick up the colored sylvania silverstar bulbs which look blue/red etc when not lit, but light up amber.

I actually have white turning signals which say dot approved on the package. I thought it was completely weird but whatever. Thet are silvania ones and were cheaper than the amber ones. :)

The turn signals on the front bumper of stock 2G headlights have a yellow/orange lens. If you use a hyperwhite bulb, the light will show up as yellow rather than orange. For the turn signals to show up white or blue, you need a new headlight assembly with a clear turn signal lens, unless you're talking about bumper lenses...

No pics but I will get you the part number later on tonight. Somewhere around 11pm eastern time.

SYLVANIA 1157 BP....turning signals(white)

The ones I have are blue colored during the daylight, but light up amber. They are street legal because they light up amber. I think that the bulbs that light up white are only street legal if they have amber lense covers on them.

I like the look of a clear lens with a blue bulb behind it in the day, and then it lights up amber to keep all the officers happy.

the only colored lights that are actualy illegal are red and blue ones, Those being the colors that emergency vehicles use, i.e. police, ambulance, firetruck. but purple orange whatever are fine, least thats the way it is here in PA. Been told that by a cop himself cuz i was pulled over for having blue, he said any color u want just not red and blue

Perhaps the D.O.T. is assuming the lights will be behind a colored lens as opposed to a clear housing.

the actual law of them is that Red/Amber are the only colors allowwed on the rear of the vehicle. White is only allowed on the rear for backup lights, of course.

The front, white and amber are legal. So Red and Blue bulbs will get you in trouble. Also, you can have white lights on the front, but your blinkers/running must be amber. (though most cops aren't that strict on that one - it's blue and red that's the problem).

Any lights on the hood ( like those washer light things) are illegal. Lights on the cowl, however, are fine.

As far as other colors, i know that green can be used for acceleration - but only on busses and stuff (so an angry cop told me ). There is not that clear of a law though, i've had come cops say that underlighting, no matter the color, is legal because you don't see the source of the light but the reflection off of the ground.

hmmm thats weird, here in FL, its illegal to have underbody lights (or any lights in the car) if the bulb/source of light is visible  or so everyone says...

I dont mean to be pickey, but in all 50 states you cannot have green bulbs on your car, as they are the warning color for reserve firefighter vehicles.

now you know. . . so all you guys with green turn signals, or reverse lights (so cal) take' em off!

I have blue LED lights in my front bumper, with clear bumper lenses that i opend and painted the silver backing jet black. My car is magenta gray pearl and with painting it black it kinda mathces the paint job. The LED lights are BRIGHT as a mofo. and even though they are blue i have never been pulled over. The one time i was pulled over was for a license plate cover then the cop pointed out the blue lights which i changed... for a week b4 puttin color ones back in then finaly the LED. heres a tip if you dont want color and want a clean white look, BUY LED LIGHTS you can find them on ebay just type in the bulb size then the letters LED. the white or clear ones are awesome, they have this weird white grey purpleish tint to them, really hard to explain but very sweet to look at. I suggest get the ones that have only like 1-2 leds per light, anymore and they wont fit inside the lenses.

The bulbs I have look blue when they are off, but they emit amber light.

If you put them behind clear lenses, during the day they sort of look blue, but when they are on at night or when signalling they are nice and legal amber.

not sure about anywhere else but in kansas you can have white or amber turn signals. I had white on the car I had before my talon we wont mention the other car because I own a dsm now and thats all that really matters isnt it, but I would think it would be generally the same everywhere.

I have clear corners and white bulbs in them. I have had no problems with the 5-0 (except when my bulb was burnt out) However, If you have strict cehicle laws in your state (California) I'd stay away from anything bedies amber or yellow.
