okay so my car runs good but when i start it up you can hear a loud whining noise coming from the top of the engine more on the intake manifold. i have been looking for an answer for about 3 hours now and cant find anyone with anything similar to my problem.

So here's what happens, when i turn the car on(at idle) you can hear the noise at about 1000 rpm but goes away once its at about 3k rpm. if the rmp drop below 1000 the noise goes away as well. when its in first and i start to move you can hear the noise but once I'm at about 15-20 mph the noise is gone and doesn't come back until I'm at a lower rpm like anything under 2500rpm the noise returns. it does not get louder as the rpm climb also.

The noise is extremely loud, you can hear it over the noise of the engine running. :sosad: this whining noise I'm hearing is extremely annoying! please any help would be appreciated!! :hellyeah: :rocks:

ps. i cant post a video, as i don't have a Camera. :notgood:

take your intake off and see if you sill hear the sound, check any where there is a coupler or a gasket. Is the sound a whistle or a squeal like a belt squealing?

sounds like you have a hole in a gasket or a coupler and air is being sucked in thru it. You can do the water and soap trick on the couplers, same think people do with tires.

Also check your intercooler piping, have you noticed any difference in your boost, if so your issue is dealing with that portion of the car if not I would check the intake first. Dont forget to check all your vacuum hoses coming from the throttle body and the throttle body gasket.

ill replace all gaskets tomorrow and report what i find. i know i have a boost leak pre throttle plate so at vacuum it wouldnt really whistle like it does. so tomorrow ill replace all throttle gaskets and intake manifold gasket and see if that fixes anything. thanks

okay well i found out the problem. while i was replacing my intake manifold gasket i the intake manifold just fell apart as i was taking it off. lucky for me i had a spare one and i threw it on and that fixed the whining noise :D. i guess the cracks that were on the intake manifold were letting air in and that was making the noise.. thanks for everyone's help :D
