So like the title states! The 1.8 is getting supercharged:thumb:

Today at work, it was pretty dead, we had no inspections or any oil changes so everyone mostly left. Our tow truck driver was junking some cars so i took an Eaton m90 supercharger off a ford thunderbird. Ive been thinking about this for a long time, and my uncle said it is quite possible but i should use a smaller charger so ive hunted down an eaton M45 off a mercedes slk which i will be getting in tomorrow. I had a spare 1.8 intake manifold so ive started choping that up. Im also looking for another 1.8 i can buy just incase something blows up! Anyway i only have to figure out how the belts will go, and i have to weld together the flange and piping i made and retrofit the throttle body, and then get some intake pipping and hook up the air intake and might use a small smic to keep the air cool. Im gonna get it done by tomorrow and see how it runs, i know for a fact that ill have to up the fuel system but im hoping to get some good hp from it(we got a dyno too) and if it all works out okay ill make a kit to sell:D Only trouble is the smaller eaton m45 superchargers are impossible to find and junkyards want 500+ for the ones from slk or clk w.e. I'm hoping the m90 does good tomorrow, but it is a really big supercharger and it might be overkill

The good news is the gsx is going to the tranny shop tomorrow, ill be very impressed if the 1.8 doesnt blow up on the test run:dsm:

Sounds like a fun project....

You might want to look at the superchargers off the 05-07 cobalt ss/sc's. I know they are eaton but not sure which model.

The 1.8L car is pretty weak from the get-go. The trans and clutch are below a joke even. I dont think the head flows very well either seeing it only being a 1.8L SOHC. The spark plug sits funny inside the head too. Good luck though.

if this works let me know i was thinking a charger off a 3800 might work just have to have an adapter plate made and if your 1.8 doesnt have any options (like mine) you already got the drive pulley ready to go ....

yea the 3800 gm engine has the same eaton m90 but it has different exhaust ports so it'll be impossible, will the ford exhaust ports on the m90 are easyier to work with, im gonna try the m45 which is smaller

i will, the 1.8 seems to be pretty strong, ive had it for 25k miles 1 year exactly, ive popped the clutch over a hundred times, ive beat the shit out of it, and it stills runs smooth, while the gsx i hit the gas a little bit, i drive it a couple miles, breaks done, fix it, another hundred miles, breaks down, now the tranny or transfer is gone, and ive only had it for 400 miles and ive put more money in to it then what i paid for it

The 1.8L is weak. You should never break anything beating on it. It came with 92 hp stock if that. I beat mine for a couple of years pretty hard and never had any real problems I didnt create. Now that I turbo'd the car, I have to adjust and check on things a little more often as well as replace things every year or so. It eats brakes and tires like no other now.
