Which way should this turbo gasket be facing?

Here we have a new OEM turbo to manifold gasket from MachV Motorsports (no handling fees or outlandish shipping on small orders like some of these newer "DSM vendors", very fast shipping and excellent service).

Anyway, which we should this be facing? One side has Japanese writing on it, the other side has a ridge around the inner circle. Which way should face up/down?
