Alright i had a couple questions for you 420a people. I have a 420a talon. i would like to build a turbo after doing some research on the all motor builds. Alot of people told me how hard it is and i realize i want a turbo anyways. i have a couple questions. First my car has 165,000 on it so i want to rebuild block and head. I though about getting the block bored out .020 with weisco pistons and eagle rods. Im going to get the head rebuilt and have some porting done to it. If i put a turbo on this and ran 10 to 15 pounds would it work good. Or what would you suggest me to do to block and head. Trying to keep the price as low as possible keep in mind. My second question is do you have any links to a cheap turbo kit for this car. Like under 1000 dollars. thought about going ebay route since im not to serious about racing car. its going to be a daily driver

I'm not a 420a man, but I have some ideas anyhow. Getting some upgraded valves, valve springs, and head gasket while you're into the head sounds like a good idea to me. Couldn't hurt! I would guess that you could probably build your own turbo kit with used parts, or find an entry level kit for around $1,000. Maybe some things to consider would be making sure it has a proper inter-cooler and proper fuel system upgrades.

Getting the things done to the internals would be more than your budget including all the gasket kits and timing belt etc. And then buying the turbo and all the other things needed to get it going. You would be looking at almost doubling your budget.

Dude seriously, I don't know how many times you make a thread and we tell you to search button. You ask extremely common questions covered many times, but alas I will try and help you one last time.

As Tanro already did the footwork for you with the link of the turbo kit for under 1 grand, that is your cheapest route unless you want to roll the dice and risk an ebay turbo kit.

Next, stock 420a's can handle about 8-10psi safely on a healthy engine (this means you should do a at the very least a compression check). If you are wanting to go the cheap route as you have stressed many a times. I'd spend money on maintenance and not worry about rebuilding and get a decent turbo kit, or piece together your own, it will probably be cheaper. If you want to rebuild the bottom end, then make sure you are buying forged parts, I don't see why if you got a decent bottom end that you couldn't handle 10-15psi. Your main thing will be to upgrade your fuel and get some type of tuning. Your head won't affect your reliability to much with just that moderate boost, but as clownface said

With a 420a one of our most common problems is head gasket failure, so always a good idea to replace if doing any work to the head or block.
