which turbo for my 420a project??

30psi! Well everything is possible. You have to let us know what you have for internals, because if you have stock internals there's no way you will be able to do this. But a evo 3 16g will give you close to what you want.

The small 16g is definitely the way to go. For roughly 9psi in the most general case the compressor wheel itself has a thermal efficiency between 70% and 75%, one of the most efficient compressor wheels that MHI offered during its production (in the range that I assume you are looking at).

I would stick an especially small turbo to compensate for low boost. I would say any of the 16g turbo models would be sufficient. an HX35 at 30psi would outlive your engine very quickly. .

Any 16g in a nice 10cm t3 housing. I just built one for my friends Turbo probe project I'm not sure what to expect honestly but his goal is controllable spool for traction and 300 HP. We expect spool around 3200 its a big 16. For a total investment of 200 its worth a shot and that's rebuit.

Can someone post up a picure of an evo 3 16g turbo bolted to a 420a head.

If memory serves me correctly, from reading threads the 2g cast turbo manifold will not fit on a 420a.

So, without a custom turbo manifold fabricated, the evo3 16g Big or small will not work on the 420a.

You are right on the evo 16g turbo, the turbo I don't think it will bolt right up with out modifications. Normally the cheap cast 420a turbo manifolds are t3 flange but you can always buy a tubular with dsm flange or make one. When I had my 420a I always though about using the 4g63 tubular manifold and cut the flange the goes to the head and replaced with the with one that fits the 420a head, like the flange that are on cheap ss header on eBay.

Some more details about your goals for the car would help quite a bit. How much power are you hoping to make @ 30psi?

What do you plan to do for supporting hardware to run an HX35 sized compressor at that pressure ratio?

If you do go that route, I would suggest you have someone fab you up a divided t3 manifold and use one of the stock holset turbine housings.

And it's not clear what you mean by:

Because BEP offers a T3 .70A/R turbine housing for the HX35.

If you decide to go smaller, I would side with the guy who recommended the Small 16G, or a 16G in a larger turbine housing.

I did a 95 gs to gst conversion and i had to custom build a manifold since a buaght manifold and turbo set out to close to the radiator fan and melted it and cuaght fire. Good look tho. I always love seeing conversions. You just know that people put more work then already starting from a turbo platform. And also cheaper insurance

Since the 420A faces the opposite direction, this would be a decent application for an EVO VIII/IX turbo. Which makes packaging a bit easier Have a manifold modded with the correct flange and you'll be good to go. Tuning is/will be an issue though. Mega Squirt is pretty well sorted out for the N/A cars. That turbo will provide more than enough oomph for you.

i have a slimmer radiator in there now causi thought clearance would be an issue with a turbo sticking off my manifold

and on my internals im running weisico 8:5:1 .20 over pistons with eagle h beam rods, reman resurfaced crank, the head has crower stage 2 turbo cams with 6 angle titanium valves, guy at shop said its built to same specifications as stage 5 head, arp main and head studs. i want 400+ out of her and the cylinders are sleeved also

FP68HTA or an Evo VIII/IX TD05HR-16G would be able to produce 400whp with a nice powerband.

we do but its a way drive for where im located id rather run 93 octane sense i live 2 houses down from a shell

Unless you will be using race gas or a water meth kit, you will need a relatively larger compressor than a 16G to hit your goals on straight pump.

That is why I mentioned E85.

Is that A/R referring to the compressor side? What wheels are in it? P#?

You can't just list a turbo by A/R.

Something like this but mine is a garret. T3 t4. 5 bolt exhuast o2 flange. 3in inlet 2 in outlet cold side. Hot side has the 4 bolt inlet flange. Im not sure if it will hook up to a 1st or 2nd gen stock exhuast manifold becuase the only manifold ive had for it to go on is an xspower i beleive is what it is called.
