Ive did some searching and am not sure which bearings would be the best to use. From what ive read, king, acl and clevite are the most popular. I head that clevite changed the metal that they make there bearings out of and there not as strong as they were before. I dont know if that is true or not but if it isnt ill just pick up some at the local autozone. But if the acl and the kings are better im gonna go ahead and order a set from slowboy. The kings seem to be a bit cheaper too. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

You really can't go wrong with either ACL or Clevite, I personally prefer the ACL's because of their oiling grooves, and would recommend those but many have had great success with both. Whatever you decide I'd consider getting them from extremepsi instead of SBR, much much much better customer service. Cheers.

Aluglide Mains.
Aluglide Rod.
or
Tri-Metal Mains.
Tri-Metal Rod.

Alright. Slowboy is in drive able distance and im going to go there to pick up a clutch disc. So ill ###### get the acl.

Clevite used to make them out of a tri-metal mix, and they used to be awesome. However, now they have discontinued the tri-metals (so I hear). So I suggest a set of King or ACL tri-metal. Don't worry so much about the brand, but get tri-metal. Some places still stock the discontinued Clevites. That's how I got mine. My machine shop had access to the old style tri-metal Clevites.

That is Correct. Clevite is now owned my Federal Moguel and they only make aluminum bearings in the Clevite brand. I would say go with a soft bearing. The softest by far is Sealed Power owned by Federal Moguel. Talk about a soft bearing....wow. They are also Tri-metals and very affordable. Acl, King are also very good. But the name is also part of the price. Softer bearings are easier on the Crank and rods. The harder the bearing the more work/wear on the rod and crank. It rather the bearing take a beating then the Crank or rod....

If you look it up clevites are back to making the tri-metal for 1g motors.....

7-bolt motors never changed from tri-metal Thats what I'm using clevite 77 tri-metal for the good old 7-bolt

Thats news to me as I just talked to people that work there and they said they no longer produce tri-metals. I deal with them on a daily basis because of my job... There are some still floating around but other than that I was told they don't. I'll call them tomorrow to double check. I wouldn't want an aluminum bearing because they are hard. Like I said, soft is better.LOL

id go with celvite.. they are quite a large name in the industry .. if they turned into s*** they wouldnt be used anymore.. i also heard they are doing tri-metal again

Ok do any of u even no what tri meatle is ? Im not one to gossip on these things but i deal with babit style bearings in equipment everyday that spin way faster and take more abuse than and motor on the markit lets step back and look how long have they been making these bearings now what are they putting in factory motors today and how many miles are they getting out of them if the oil is clean and changed vers the stuf from the older days

I've always used alumaglide bearings. for 95% of the people aluminum bearings have the best performance to protection ratio. What brand you get them matters even less. Clevite, acl, king, topline, etc. Bearings are only made in a few countries, so they're all high quality.

Pick a bearing and call it a day, acl, clevite, i even used topline back in the day,all three brands lasted for over 15 years in most of my dsms.
