Whats going on guys, so im in the process of getting my new set of Regular DD tires, for my Stock 2G wheels, and i'm also in the process of getting 2 Wheels, and 2 Drag Radials...

Here is a little bit of my Story, im building a DD/Track 2G Eclipse, almost done, as soon as im done i will update the profile logs. Daily Driving i will be using my OEM 2G Wheels, on All-season tires, although im only driving the car during spring, summer, and fall, not much rain days and defenetly garage during snow flakes.. :)

Now im planning on going with oem size 16" wheels with 16'' Drag Radials.
For the reason that im planinng on swaping my tires at home, to drive to the track(12-15miles) on my drag radials, since they are street drivable, correct??..

What do you guys recommend? oem size for drag radials? and to be safe to drive to track on any other size-15" wheels & tires perhaps?

any Information or links, would really help..

Thank You:thumb:

Look into the lightest wheel your can afford. Flys slip streams are what I use and I ordered my radials off discount tire direct, pretty good prices and free shipping.

i see you have a 99-GST, i have a 98-gst.. so this is good info here your giving me.. now you have 16"? or 15" drag radials?....

And for wheels, what width wheels are you running or you recommend? and As for Drag Radial tires, any rub on your setup?

Thanks

If you have to stick to a 16" rim, go with Hoosier drag radials in a 225/50/16. They have a very soft compound (ie don't take alot of heat to get to an ideal temperature) & have the softest sidewall of all the DR's out there (softer sidewall is better for launching & to help prevent wheel hop).

If you can run smaller then 16" rims, go with a true slick. They will offer even better traction & even less likely to wheel hop.

Depends on price difference, because i can get real cheap 15"X7" wheels. But i know the Slicks will be lot expensive..

Right now i can get oem 16" whels.. and go with Hoosier liek you said, but are they good to drive 15-20 miles to track? If they are then i may do them, ive seen Falkens and Nitto tires out there pretty good to drive but not sure how far..

Also any site to get them? pleae..

Thanks :thumb:

I haven't looked at slicks lately but when I bought DR's (car use to be fwd), slicks were basically the same price as DR's, think some were actually cheeper.

Nitto hasn't made a tire that will fit our car for years & if they still did I would not recommend them over the Hoosiers. Yes the Hoosiers can be driven on the street. No you don't want to be driving far on them & don't get aggressive while taking corners as the sidewalls are alot softer then your typical street radial. Also, obviously they will not be good in rain/standing water as they basically don't have any tread.

I bought mine from a local Hoosier dealer, check Hoosiers site to find someone local to you.

o ok.. cool.

ill search around for hoosier, now would a tire size 235/50R16 fit and perform better??

Bump for hoosiers there amazing there compound is super sticky and yet tough enough to be issued a dot number.:applause:
