hey I am currently in the search for some parts for my rebuild this winter and was wondering whats good out there. I have a 91 gst and lookign to put new rods and pistons in, and studs. I have an evo 3 turbo and was wondering what internals would be good and reliable for around 350whp. Also, will the stock crank be fine if it is in good shape for this amount of hp. Is there anything else i should replace in the head that would go good with what i was already putting in. I am probably lookign for running boost around 20+psi. Can the stock internals handle this or what parts should i throw in to handle it.
-thanks guys

The stock pistons and rods are more than capable of handling 350whp. The crank is fine also. For 20 psi put in some ARP head studs. With the ARP's you can use the stock head gasket but i would recommend going something a little stronger just to be safe. If you cant get the block and head resurfaced then don't use a cometic. I personally just bought an ajusa gasket set and the head gasket is supposedly good to 450whp but i haven't installed it yet. It all depends on how much money you want to spend though

It all comes down to cash flow. It costs a lot of money to fully rebuild an engine. I went fully built with esp rods and wiseco pistons, just the bottom end alone cost me 1500 bucks (including machine work). If you power goals down the road exceed 400 ponies I would shell out now for the forged stuff. It's gonna be a pain in the ass and expensive, to tear down the motor a year later because you wanna go big.

but hey, thats just tossin in my .02

is there any power advantage by putting in aftermarket pistons like wiseco or something, or will they do about the same as the stock ones. Also isnt that a gasket that mitsu makes that can handle more boost. Also woudlnt i have to get a bigger intercooler for 350whp rather than using the stock one. how much psi do u rate the stock intercooler to cool the air enough before u have to get a bigger one

It's like building a house. If you build it on shaky ground, it will crumble. First figure out your goals. The more you want to make, the more it costs.
Yes aftermarket forged pistons will be much better than stock. Use Stock ones if you plan on keeping your ride fairly stock. If you want to add a bigger turbo and intercooler and cams etc, you'll need forged pistons (or you'll be wishing you did down the road).
You'll need a bigger Turbo along with an FMIC to hit 350hp. You'll be heat soaking the stock SMIC.

i already have uicp, evo 3, turbo back, mbc, filter, wires, type rs bov, exedy clutch, wally 255hp
