Ive looked around and cant find the answer i want. So here goes, I have a hacked 2g mas in my car and I am ordering DSMLINK monday. Should I keep it, or get a gm mas and translator? My other mods are in my profile. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Unless you plan on maxing out the 2g sensor then I wouldn't worry about upgrading.

I'd like to be around 400-450 to the wheels. Im not sure of the 2g mas capabilities.

i would get a evo 8 mass air sensor then. its good for that hp range. MAFT has worked good for many people but it doesnt work good for me. im getting rid of the set up in favor of a 2g mass air sensor and safc...

I agree the evo mas is definitely a good upgrade from the 2g.

the plug is the same (or so I've heard) and it flows 25% more than a 2g. Someone said the gm maft has worked great for many people..... like who? Every time I come to this forum and go into tuning and engine management, theres someone with a maft whos asking, why do I have to add 30% at wot to get my car to run right? and stuff like that. No one with a maft I've talked to has gotten it to work well from the start.

I looked around on ebay and couldnt find one. what are they going for? Im thinking I'll just stick with my 2g mas.

check evo forums, evolutionm, evotuners.com evotuners.net, those sorta places

The plug is definitely different. You will need the EVO Maf and connector in order to make it work.

MAF-T generally works just fine in drawthrough config. The readings only get skewed in blowthrou config.

i just thought of something to add to this thread. doesnt the evo mass need a chip or dsm link to be controlled? isnt something diffrent about it that it needs some correction?

These two charts (provided by Jeff "Keydiver" Oberholtzer of dsmchips.com) show the amount of correctoin needed if you use a 3G or Evo MAS (the airflow numbers between the two come within 1% so they are interchangeable)

Based on this chart, the best way to go would be to set your dsmlink up for a 2G mas (unhacked) then on top of that, add 20-30% to your MAS compensation (follow the yellow line).

If you decide to stay with your hacked 2G mas, dsmlink has provisions for that as well, no correction needed.
