looking at building an engine for my 96 gst and get 20 psi out of it reliably. I wanna use a 1g head on a 2g block with aftermarket internals and a 16g, but I was wondering if a 6 bolt long block with a 14b would be more reliable as a DD. However, the car has a perfectly good stock auto trans in it. Thoughts...?

Just throw a 16g on with supporting mods and throw 20lbs at it. No need to get a 6 bolt or rebuild a motor unless yours is already blown. The stock block will EASILY handle anything a 16g can push.

yeah, the deal is that the motor is seized but I'm getting the car for 1000 and it's pretty much mint except for the driverside door lock plastic. I'm gonna have to build the motor anyway and I figured while I was at it why not put a 1g head on with a 16g and do little to no modification to the electrical system

Get dsmlink an do a 6 bolt swap an throw your 16G on there an upgrade the fuel pump an injectors. The stock fuel pump will cut out at 20 an the injectors will go out at 12 to 16 on that turbo. I just did that an bent 2 valves on my engine. I had the injectors maxed at 108% when I spiked to 24 an hit a 5 on my knock counter. By the time I drove home the engine was banging bad. So if you want 20 you got to do it right. I think my log said that the stock injectors maxed at 100% at 12.

so I can run a 6 bolt block with a 2g trans??? cause I'd rather not pull the trans if I don't have to. do you think these DSMlink guys could point me in the right direction on inject and fuel pump for the 280 cams I want to run....don't mean to sound too needy, but this is the first fuel injected motor I've built and I'd rather do it once and do it right.

Yes you can run a 2g tranny on a 6 bolt block :thumb:
All you need for your goals is a stock rebuild with some ARP head studs and aftermarket headgasket, that would be more than enough.

If you plan on running a 16g all you would need is 550cc injectors, SAFC, and a Walbro 190 fuel pump. Once you start tuning you are going to need a logger at the very least, I would definitely recommend buying a wideband.

so 6 bolt engine and any 1g eprom or does it have to be 89-92 eprom for the dsmlink to work on the car??

If you have a 1g car this is going in, then your going to need the 1g eprom for dsmlink to work. If it's going in a 2g, your going to need a 2g eprom for dsmlink to work.
