hello I would like to purchase a turbo this week and I'm stuck between the fp green red and black. I think the black might be to big so prob green or red.

I would like your guys recommendations before I purchase one. The car is mostly going to be driven on the street and the. Motor is built pretty good.
Just want to see what people have ran what they liked. A fiend told me to go with green since the spool will be a lot better.

Thanks

It all depends on your goals. I personally went with the Green because my car is my daily driver and I wanted to stay under 500hp. The spool won't be too much more with the Red but you'll be able to make more power.

Yea I was stuck between the green and red. I just don't want to get the green and then say I want more power. Do you know when your green spools up? At what rpm and what do you think the red will spool

Thanks for the help

I honestly don't know when it spool. I never really paid attention to it. I feel like 3000rpm is about where the magic happens. I've heard stories of the Red being starting to spool around 3500-4k. I can't really speak on it because I have no personal experience.

I had the 20g on a 2.0, I was told it should be similar if not slightly less powerful than the FP green. So I got the HTA red on a 2.0, but now its on a 2.3. With the 2.0, you have and the head work, you should be able to bump your rev limit back. I imagine you would still have 1k+ of usable power band to make up for the 1k rpm "lag". Just cruise at 1k rpm higher if you want the "green spool up" with "red power".

I have dyno sheets in my profile (for the 2.3L, but for reference...)
I made 466awhp at ~23psi on pump 93oct, limited by timing/boost that the fuel would allow.
522awhp at ~24-25psi on E85, limited by my fuel setup, injectors/pump. Could easily go to 600+ with more fuel.

Green would keep your car fun with relatively sane driving styles. You might have to be a little more deliberate with the red to have fun. Highway merging is still better with the red.

Yea Idk which one to pick all my friends say go with red. They say it will be laggy but when it hits you will love it so idk. I just feel it will take for ever to spool so idk

I was in the same boat as you a few years ago. I went with the Green hta. I can tell you on a stock block, i hit full boost in 3rd at 4k rpm on 93 and about 22psi. I love this turbo on the street and haven't even done a set of cams yet or a built motor to unlock its full potential. I feel like the red is a better choice if you want to track the car occasionally or on highway pulls but around town and back roads i wouldn't want much more lag than the green. It really depends on what type of roads you will most be driving the car on.

Between those three.
And being a street car.
FP green.

Decent amount of power and manners still good enough for the street.
I don't have experience, but looking at all the specs...
After the 20G your street manners are gonna drop, but the green I always viewed as probably not being too bad.
I can't see the FP reds or FP blacks having great street manners... They would take a long time to spool, power would probably come on SUPER HEAVY, small(ish/er) powerband.... Leave that to the weekend warriors or for people who more frequent the track.

If you want those power levels and are also asking for decent reponse, you are gonna have to go twin scroll...
A GTX3076R is deep 500'swhp with pretty decent spool.
GTX35R is roughly 'sky's the limit'. Lol. And those being ball bearing and twin scroll would probably offer you better characteristics in regards to a street setup.
