Which engine management Controller

Looking around and doing some research I have come to the conclusion that I need some guidance. I am currenty building a kick ass DSM to replace my old STi. I know thats a tall order but here goes it needs to do everything my stock 04 STi did within 10%. that means it needs that following

.85 in the skid pad
12.0 1/4
Rally ready
Track day ready
at the least 350/350 HP TQ
comfy DD
cruise control
AC

here is where it has to beat it the STI
better than 18 mpg (read 28ish in town)
no more 400 plus a month car payment
Cheap Ins.

the motor is settled on and being built
trans is taken care of
wheels tires brakes pretty much done
swaping to the 1GB front end and rear

but as far as controlling the motor I am stuck...

SAFC and GM MAF seems like it will work I can have to diff maps but might leave me wanting more

HKS VPC? never seen one used or ready anything aobut em, all I know is that they have knobs to adjust stuff!

DSM link? Seems more for 1/4 mile might not get me what I want, it says on the site that might not be the best for road course, rally

AEM? Lots of work, might be worth the huge price tag heard lots of horror stories about em but then you see em in the 8's and think shit good enough for them good enough for me

SDS? seen em work great before but would require wiring

Big stuff 3? Hell if your considering the AEM you have to consider this one too

So help a brother out and throw out some positives and negatives about whats listed above.

Or Say F- you KGB go buy an STi/ EVO and STFU you will not be happy in the end with a 16 year old car

Dsm link, it will do almost everything the big dogs do, but alot cheaper and easier. As for not really an auto cross tuning device, I think it would do just fine. Plus tons of guys in the dsmlink forums say they are getting 30mpg, on there 11 sec cars. Pretty impressive I think. Hence the reason I bought it.

I think it really depends on your budget, you can't beat Dsmlink for the amount of control you get and the price, I don't see any problems with tuning an auto-x car with it. If you want a standalone, check out Autronic.

AEM is the best hands down, dont believe the horror stories, but is pricey.

These are my opinions

They aren't all horror stories, I've tuned quite a few cars with AEM, 90% of them are great and trouble free. The other 10% are ticking time bombs, my AEM EMS is in this 10%. It does the most random inconsistent things, it's been nothing but a pain in my ass since the day I installed it. AEM software is loaded with bugs and causes a lot of trouble for tuners. It doesnt help that AEM tests their software out on their customers and expects them to discover the issues themselves and report it to AEM. Add that to the non-existent customer service and it's not looking so good.
