That's an eprom. What is the part number? That's terrible picture. You can't see the possible damage that can be easily done when removing an eprom. But what's the loss but $30. It may be repairable if damaged for a total less than the cost of an eprom ecu.

Still you can't beat $185 for an eprom conversion from ecmtuning. You KNOW that your ecu works.

This is not entirely a true statement...some 96 models that were produced in 95 before they discontinued eproms had them.

Where did you get this information? MD312464 and MD309947 are the only part numbers which have had eproms. Those only come in 1995 models. If some of those particular part number ecus were left over in the factory, I guess they maybe could be put in 1995 production of the 1996 model year (8-12/05).

These are all the numbers on the unit:

MD302726
E2T38982
5109 E
From what I have gathered this is an eprom unit but the car model it brings up is the Mirage 1.8 4G93...how was this pulled from a turbo eclipse? Would this even work?

Yep MD302726 1994 -1995 Mirage 1.8l Federal.

I think it will somewhat work. But I don't believe you will have the ability to log knock; it's from a n/a platform. I'm not sure how the 2g board works (that mirage ecu looks like a 2g board). But as far as I know, the definition file for it in tunerpro doesn't locate any code to alter the knock sensor usage. Clicky. I'm not sure if there will be any other features you'll have to go without by using that ecu.

i would try classified ads for used parts to reach your goals. you already have a basic idea of what you want to get. look around a bit and i feel the evo III 16g would be big enough for your goals.
That's what I've been trying to do. Unfortunately, people are trying to sell used ECMlink V3 Lite for $600-$700, which is more than if I just bought it brand new. There's not many used 20G's out there (but there are plenty of used 16G's) since the 20G or 50/60 trim turbos are what many people end up using when all is said and done. I will probably pick up some used injectors though, and maybe a used w/b and boost gauge.

Thank you dsm-onster, and everyone else, for all the help! I could have just taken this guys word that this was a eprom pulled from a turbo eclipse, bought the unit and got screwed. (It truthfully could have been pulled from a turbo eclipse but what it was doing there in the first place we'll never know) I'm goin to check my ECM as I just assumed that since it was a 96 it wasn't eprom. The guy I bought my car from had already done the 14B and a few other upgrades so maybe there's a chance he put an eprom unit in there. If not I'll just send it off to ECMtuning and have an eprom I KNOW works for my car.

Would this gauge work with ECMlink? Zeitronix ZR-2 Multi Gauge (AFR / Boost / EGT) - Modern Automotive Performance

When you come back realizing it's NOT eprom LOL (still waiting on where you got the info that some 1996 models had eproms from the factory), you should just buy that ecu for $30. . . And experiment with it. I bet you could do alot with the tunerpro program with that ecu. You already have a definition file ready to go!

(still waiting on where you got the info that some 1996 models had eproms from the factory)
It was from an older gentleman that worked for Mitsu back when these cars were new and since some 96 model year cars are made in 95 a few, supposedly, slipped through with eproms in them. He said it was kind of like the "some extreme/zq8 s10's had the rear anti-hop shock and some didn't" GM discrepancy/inconsistency. (If anyone even knows that story) However, the guy with the $30 eprom is still trying to sell me on this ECU. Now he's saying the original pictures he had with the cover on and the model numbers were ones he found online as an example for the craigslist add and the picture he sent with the cover off (the one I posted here) is a picture of the actual ECU. He also offered to have the socket put in and let me have it for $100. But I told him how can he now prove that his ECM is legit since he already, supposedly, posted false pictures and can just google the correct model numbers and say that's what he is selling to me. I have yet to get a response haha!
