Where on DP to tap EGT

Doing it on the car is not as bad as some will have you believe.

I did mine on the car and it took a few minutes with no problem at all. Nothing will fall in the manifold if you do it right and take your time. In the end it is up to you but you won't get burnt and it will take only a few minutes with it on if you go that route.

Here is a thread for referance.

Agreed. It's quite simple. Wear eye protection though, as with all drilling.

If you're clueless and have a tendency to break everything you touch, I wouldn't recommend it.

Just thought I'd share a picture of my EGT probe placement. The highest temp i've seen so far was about 1250. Which according to what I have read would be about 1450 at the manifold. Getting the tap started was a PIA because I drilled the whole at kind of a weird angle. But i got it to work. I have the autometer 1600 degree gauge & probe.

Hey i just drilled and tapped for my egt probe today and i have a quick question. I tightened that little gromet thing that has threads on both sides of the nut thing and the actual probe itself goes through the gromet into the manifold. (In the picture above it is the bottom nut thing that looks like it is gold). Well, i tightened that nut thing as tight as i could get it so it would not pop off. And, when i went to put the probe through the nut thing, i noticed that the bottom of the probe was hitting the bottom inside of the manifold. Can i just loosen that bottom nut thing so that my probe sits about in the middle of the exhaust stream and then tighten the top nut thing to it? If i can, how can i keep it from coming loose and popping off? Hope that made sence

You could try and find a thin jam nut and use that.

That part is usually tapered so it would fit tight even if it didn't go in all the way. Maybe try and loosed it a bit and see if it is still tight.

Well, i just did that and tightened everything down. When i turned on the car the engine goes up and down and it sounds like when i first drilled the hole and the exhaust gases where coming out. Its like "bababbabbbbaabbaaabb". What could that be?

There could be a sheep stuck in the timming belt. OMG

It might not be sealing correctly and you are heaing an exhaust leak.

Actual, i got it working fine now. When i was drilling and working on the car, i layed a big heavy blanket over the passanger side fender and inside the engine so i wouldn't scratch anything. Well, when i took the blanket off it stopped. I think the filter wasn't getting any air and my engine wasn't able to breath. Sorry for my stupidity!
