Hey guys, I have a 97 2g turbo and I cut wires while the battery was still connected. I cut the Clutch interlock switch wires(a green and black one) and now my car won't start. You guys and everyone else said that if I cut wires at the same time with the battery still connected, I short circuited and blew a fuse or maybe relay.

After 2 days of trying to figure out what could be the probem, I narrowed it down to be the starter relay because I am getting power to everything, the ignition system seems to work because my turbo timer goes on and off when ever I turn it to 'start".

So it must seem the starter relay burned out hopefully. So guys with the 2g's where is the starter relay located? because I looked high and low in the engine bay, under the dash, and the compartement where the radio goes.

Where can it be?

check your ignition fuse and what ever wires u cut reconnect them and that should solve the no start and then u can use vfaq.com to do it right....

I checked the ignition switch fuse. I cut the clutch interlock switch wires. Whether I connect it back together, it really wouldn't make a difference because if the switch is disabled, the car would start. I will look at vfaq.com. Thanks!

found this in 10 seconds from Defiant doing a search not sure if it's different for a 420a

"In the console, about straight down from the heater temp control knob and a little forward. It's the smaller one on the right. You may need to pull the radio to access it, I don't know if you can get to it from the right side."

Others posted you can get it from the right side.

Ok cool. I pulled that out today and I found that no store sells it. :( Do you guys know if the dealership sells them?

I'm sure they do but they will charge a good price. Do you have any junkyards around your area? I remeber when I needed a relay I checked all the local parts stores and they didn't have a part number so I know the feeling. I found a bunch at the salvage yard.
