I replaced my alternator after having it rebuilt yesterday and when i went to start up the lights would dim upon revving and accelerating. but after warm up all the electrical components maintained a steady charge. Looking at the alternator just now i noticed this yellow cable unhooked and need to know if it connects along with the other 2 cables among the orange cap? Pics Below thanks :D

Looks like its for your oil temp sensor. Right below your alternator or next to your oil filter. Seems to me like your missing the little connector. You can get those at your nearest auto parts store. GetR done.

damn this is bad. i was hoping it was for the alternator. i had it rebuilt and after installing it its not holding charge until it warms up. what are the chances he didnt rebuilt it right. or what could be causing my alternator to not work as good.

I know its not a recommended test but i disconnected the negative cable and it kill the running engine..

Bad Rebuild? Connection?....

Yellow is the oil send it mounts on the front of the oil sending unit. There is a screw at the tip of the rounded protrusion facing the front of the car. This is where the plug will mount if you replace it. I wrapped mine around the screw, tightened it, and covered it with liquid electric tape. I abandoned hope of finding something like that.

I think it's the oil pressure warning switch, that would be a yellow wire in that general area. Check the sensor and see it's it's connected. The oil pressure sensor for the gauge is yellow with red stripe.

The power steering pressure switch is a blue with white stripe.

Check the voltage at the B+ stud and the alternator fuse before pulling the alternator again.

What is the b stud and where is it located at. What readings should i get? thank for the replies :)

Interesting, the 95FSM specified the colors I listed but I see those are different.

The B+ stud is the output of the alternator under that red cap. You should see battery voltage when the car is off and between 13.6v and 14.8v when the alternator is charging.

Well, the FSM could be right then, and Mitsu could have changed them. Those pictures are taken from a wiring harness of a '99.
