Ok, picked up a used QM TD that has about 500 miles on it, all of which are track passes on a 650+hp car. I put it in my car wich is mostly stock. Normal mods for a 1g. hacked maf, boost controller, walbro...things like that. Its also on DSMLink. Car is on 17-18psi. Its an 92 6/4 car.

So basicly what happened was doin some tuning, got it tuned, and went to actualy launch the car, it was in the rain. I slipped the clutch and went, everything was fine, grabbed second, everything is fine, grabbed 3rd and everything looked good. Clutch in and coasting down and noticed it was whining kind of. Coasted home which was like 2 blocks away. So now...basicly when im sitting in the drive way and the clutch is out everything seems fine. No noise, nothing. Push the clutch in and it sounds like a bad bearing kind of whining which gets significantly louder when you put it in any gear and changes pitch just wiggling the shifter left to right with the clutch pushed in. But as soon as you let out of the clutch in gear the noise goes away and it seems like everything is fine. I can drive the car around with no issues. No noise, nothing. But when i roll into it in 3rd or 4th gear it acts exactly like a slipping clutch and burys the tach. My buddy says i for sure broke the center diff. But ive heard that you dont get very many miles out of the QM. So what are the chances its just a tranny issue and not the QM. i cant afford to have that rebuilt right now. What happens when you break the center diff? Also when im driving and the clutch slips the speedo doesnt go up, just the tach. Any insight would be greatfuly appreciated.

The QM,s get a lot more than 500 miles but you said it was 500 miles 1/4 mile at a time? Ouch! Your clutch has gone out that's why your rpm increases but your speed doesn't. You'll have to pull it out and see what damage is done. You can also put it on a lift and see what you can see through the inspection hole.

Well ive been reading that the center diff can cause similar issues that im having. The clutch has been super strong to this point and would be hard to believe the clutch would be bad from one hard launch in the rain. but im hoping for the best. And that its just the tranny LOL. Something is definatly wrong in the tranny though. It makes noise with the car off, clutch in and rolling.

The clutch can also make noises while rolling, the only way to tell is start taking her apart

Video added.

Soo...turns out the clutch pedal rod adjusted itself out and was putting pressure on the clutch, thats the slipping. The noise was cause the TOB was riding on the clutch 100% of the time and got hot and wore itself out. Readjusted the clutch pedal and its all back to normal, aside from the nasty sounding TOB LOL.

Well, i guess i couldnt have been more wrong...

Pulled the tranny feeling the throw out bearing was junk. Once apart, found out i installed the disc's reversed and one was backwards. The one that was closest to the flywheel was backwards so less than a quarter inch of splines on the input shaft, which had eventualy worn out and was free spinning on the input shaft of the tranny..hence the noise and weird engagement. Got it all back together and feels better than it ever has. It used to have a weird shimmy on a real hard 1-2 shift which is now gone.
