WHERE CAN I FIND A SILENCER FOR A 5" EXHAUST TIP

I just bought a airmass cat back with a 5 inch exhaust tip and it is insanelly loud and i dont want to get hasseled by the cops. if anyone can help me besides just sayiing go to an exhaust shop i would appreciate it alot. ive looked on ebay and tried some searches with no avail. i need help i cant even explain how loud it is my wife said she could hear me coming into the neighborhood. so any help would be appreciated. thanks

That sort of thing isn't on for silencing. It's not much on for performance, either.

You may want to consider something more appropriate for carrying the exhaust gasses out of a two-litre engine. Or, some heavy-gauge screening to keep the wombats from heading on up there to nest.

Man, 5 inches is HUGE. Why did you get that in the first place? Anything over 3 inches is overkill. I have dual 2 1/2 tips on my car and even those are big. You might want to think about switching to something smaller.

the way i read it only the tip is 5 inch its probably a 2.5 or 3.0 inch exaust

when you say your looking for a silencer you mean you need a muffler i dont know how loud a airmass muffler is so i cant make a recamendation

is your airmass straight through or baffled

I had a Greedy EVO for awhile, and while not insanely loud, it was too loud for my taste. It had a 4.5" tip, so I drilled a hole in the tip and bought an Apex silencer for the N1 (115mm). 5" is pretty big, and the biggest silencer I found is 120mm (5 inches would be 127mm). to make it quieter, your options are: chopping it off and getting a smaller tip welded on, getting a new muffler, adding a resonator, or just getting a completely new exhaust system.

Yes, no cat will make it much louder.

Try going to muffler man (or something similar) and getting one or two glasspacks welded in. I personally have heard these glasspacks in many different situations and they are great on any car, and with your muffler they will help quiet it down without hurting performance enough to notice.

So I know this thread is kind of old but I have the same problem. I've been doing some searching and again the biggest I found was the 120 mm silencer. Anybody know where I can find this 'huge' silencer. Or if not a place where I can find the 120 mm one for less than 45 bucks, which is the cheapest I found!! I think it's way too expensive for a silencer. Any help much appreciated.

You could call up a exhaust shop to see if they can make a silencer or you can buy my exhaust. I got a muffler off my beater car. If you interested pm me.

Hey you might want to do something like im planning, I don't want some ugly silencer, so im going to run a electric solenoid in a y pipe, so when im driving through my retirement community im not setting off my neighbors car alarm's. I can hit a switch and run a separate exhaust, with a cat and muffler that are hidden.

You can find a kit at summit racing for about 150.00

You're n/a, you can't be THAT loud. Like I said, buy a real MUFFLER and you'll be fine. If you had a good MUFFLER you wouldn't be here asking.

BBP's catbacks come with a 5'' silencer. Maybe you could find some seperate made by them.
