JUst took my car in and had everythning else checked over (cv, strut, etc) its all good but just the wheel bearing is slightly bad (driveable). He quoted me at $450 for parts and labor stating the part was $160 or something like that. Does anyone know where to get a cheap OEM wheel bearing? Im thinking im going to hire someone local around here to help me do it myself to save $300 or so.

Talking about the center nut holding the axle to the hub?
Correct.

More is better in this case?
I'd just go to 165 and leave it be.

Our Moog rep stated that roughly 2/3rds of the wheel hubs that they receive as "defective units" which fail before the warranty is up actually failed from improper axle nut torque. ;)

About 30k miles (2 years ago) ago I replaced my front right hub because it had serious play. Since then I've torqued and re torqued both the fronts several times but always just guessed it. I've recently checked them both when I pulled my suspension apart and both had play. Including the new one with 30k miles on it, but the original one was worse.

I've just purchased a set of 2 new OEM ones and I don't want them to fail so soon. I'll be installing them in the coming weeks. I'll make sure to torque them down to 165. Thanks.
