When is it necessary to upgrade transmission?

When I get my 2g, I'm going to do a 6-bolt swap with a Frankenstein 6-bolt from thedsmgraveyard.com. w/o squirters, .020 over, evo 9 pistons/rings.

I'm also going to get this head work done:

"Stage 3" porting
Hot Tank and Check for Cranks
Plane and Straighten if necessary
New Graveyard Motorsports Racing Valves
New Graveyard Motorsports Viton Seals
New Supertech Stage 1 Springs (8000 Redline)
New SBI Valve Guides
Custom 3 Angle Seat Grind
Studs Replaced if necessary.

Would it be necessary to get my transmission upgraded after this? I'm going to get a lightened flywheel and an ACT 2600.

Depends what you are using it for. If its a drag car you might wanna double synchro 2nd and 3rd, maybe 4th but i doubt you would need it. Its all about budget and what you are trying to do

DD. Wanna get it up to about 350-400hp. I'll have about $2,500 for the car, my budget is $4,000 on other parts. On the headwork and the Engine I'll be spending $2,450. So I'll have about $1,500 left which I'll probably be spending on DSMlink, the intake system and exhaust system... If I have to wait on a transmission rebuild, I'll wait to drop the engine in.

ME personally i would say your transmission should be fine. Unless you beat on it all the time. You might want to look into one of the builders' stage 1 setup.

yea like cookmeup said it should be fine it just depends on the abuse you put on it, like if your gonna be popping that clutch hard ass hell then it wont last long so my suggestion is if your thinking of racing it all the time then i would atleast rebuild it or get a stage 1 or like im doing just DD and when people try to outrun me then i have my share of races once here and there so its all up to you and how much you want your car to be reliable

I think if I get a trans rebuild I'll go through sheptrans.com but the stage 1 rebuild is about $1k

Yeah I don't plan on beating on it too much at allllll. I mean yeah, I'm going to want to put the power to the test . But I'm going to have to break the engine in anyways so by then I'll probably have the money for a trans rebuild.

If anything, drive it till it breaks . Then get another tranny. Tranny rebuilds and builds are not cheap

No, they aren't at all. Thats what I'll probably do because if it does happen, I'll be able to get a ride to and from work until I get it back in. Thanks for the advise guys!

I'm getting a gsx 5-speed. Correct me if I'm wrong but it doesn't matter if the transmission is from a 1g or 2g as long as its m/t awd.
