When do you know when your clutch is bad?

When I lauch my car hard, shift into second, and drop the clutch my car will stay at a high rpm for several seconds. It goes up then when I shift, it is still up. Do any of you know what I am talking about? If so, what is happening? Is the clutch slipping, because thats what I think it is?

How about if you run it up to 4k or so, then stomp on it? Do the revs take off without the car and then come back down after a few secs?

It sounds like you need a new clutch.

mine does the same and soon you wont even be able to use your second gear...what you referrin to is the clutch slippin becareful u dont floor it and let it slip all the way past 9k rpm for to long :p otherwise the outcome might be intresting

alright thats what i thought. at 4k when i floor it it does go up then back down. What kind of clutch do you think i should go with. Im thinking the ACT 2600 along with the XACT fly.

what is your opinon on flywheels? ACT or Fidanza? Fidanza is 2.5 pounds lighter which is aprox 2.5 hp more, but it is also 40 bucks more. Yet then ACT is still a galoping improvement over stock.

If you're going for a drag car, the lightest I would go is ACT. That being said, I LOVE my Fidanza wheel. Very quick to rev-match.

What clutch would be best for an everyday driver with basic mods? (3" turbo-back, boost controller and fuel pump)

From what ive been reading, probly the act 2100 kit. Im probly gonna go with the 2600, because I plan on making some good hp and torque.

centerforce clutches are nice, but I got about 8k out of mine. Only lauching hard a few times:D.

There are some truly mixed emotions when it comes to CF. Some hate it, but I loved it when I had it. Too bad my shop fried it when they "forgot" to bleed the slave cylinder.

Not only does it match up with ACT's power, it is much cheaper. I got my CenterForce I and T/O bearing for $225 shipped. The Dual Friction (Which is equal to ACT's 2600 if not stronger) is only $270 shipped. Huge price difference between the two and this is only one of the many reasons I pick CenterForce over ACT.

i went with act the 2600 ... i heard alot of bad things about CFDFs on 1g dsms ... though my friend has a 95 tsi fwd and he has the CFDF and loves it (he is making close to 400whp also) ... i "hear" they are good on 2Gs but not so good on 1Gs

the guy who i bought my 90 gsx from said that he put in a centerforce. im having all sorts of problems with it. It was really good for a while, then after 2 hard launches it was slipping. im a little disapointed, because i heard all sorts of good things about it before i got my car, then when he said he put one in, it really pumped me up, and now it is shit! oh well, looks like i'll just have to slap in a 2600 and xact fly;)
