Wheels rubbing but not sure why.

So my buddy and me traded wheels today but we came into a problem. We both have 1g's Same KYP AGK setups but I have Coil conversions. Basically same setup but they are rubbing the Spring cup on my front and don't on his which doesn't make since because we have the same kyb's Could use some opinions.. MY car does have bigger brakes but that shouldn't affect the spacing i would think. His car is 91 awd and mine is 92 awd.

Rim size? Tire size? Offset of wheels?

ssr integral a2, 18" with 225/50/18 tires. not sure on the offset but there is no real reason i can think of as to why they fit my friends 91 awd and rub on my 92 awd. we have the exact same struts / cars. only difference is I have bigger brake swap, and Coil over conversions which dont affect where they are rubbing at. They rub the bottom of the spring cups on the struts.

it might be the coil over conversion that yours is rubbing on

Show us a picture. If your car is significantly lower than his, the negative camber may be to blame most likely.

Could try an alignment... I was thinking the same thing with camber, cars might be the same but your setup can be a lot different. Unless you have it set to your specs and don't want to change that, try bolting up a small spacer to give it the room it needs.. that is to say if that's the problem.

I will post pictures but Im only rubbing on the bottom of the spring cup or whatever you want to call it. Not on the actual springs.

Here are few pictures I just snapped. You can see where it is touching and when the car is on the ground its worse. I dont want to have to cut the spring cup off if there is something I can adjust.

any thing bent and how much is it rubbing? little enough to just let it fix itself in a few miles?

Looks like you've got it dropped too low, which is causing too much negative camber. You need to get a set of Ingalls front camber bolts and go to the alignment rack. Also, its not good to install the coilovers without removing the factory style spring perches on the struts as the collars will bind. If you got rid of the factory perches and get the camber bolts you will be good to go but either way it needs to go to get an alignment immediately after.

When I put the coil overs on my AGXs I just cut the stock spring perch off and had no worry off any tire size rubbing.

I bought the car like it is. Just swapped the wheels. I actually raised the car some. The adjusting collar was all the way down on the fronts so i raised them and measured and liked how it sat. then i swapped wheels and this is what im dealing with now. I will probably go with cutting the stock spring cups off and get a alignment. Any tips on cutting those off?
