I've searched the hell out of this problem and it's pissing me the hell off.
Like quite a few others, my wheel studs broke off. I'm a mechanic, I know how to change them out if I have the right parts. Turns out that the wheel studs on my eclipse are some super rare JDM studs or some bullshit like that. EVERY parts house in town carries studs for my car (its a 98 if that makes a difference), but the splined portion doesn't match the ones on my car. Mine are a little more than .050" smaller than the studs carried by the parts houses. The Mitsubishi dealer's OEM studs are even too big. The splined shoulder portion is just too fat to fit in the hub.
I'm pretty aggravated right now because a job that should have taken under a half hour is turning out to take 3 days. My last resort is going to be getting a whole new spindle. But I'm going to ream the holes out about .020" and see where that takes me first.
My question is this: Why do I have different studs than anybody else, even the 98 eclipse in the junkyard?

have you tried just knocking one in? They should be super tight. Air hammer my tool of choice or a couple closed end wrenches a old lug nut and a beasty impact. Try taking a old one to autozone and finding a parts guy worth a shit and have him pull some from a couple dif cars try a 1g a neon stuff like that as long as they are 12x1.25 and of a close length you should be ok just my 2cents though.
