dont know where else to post this. other threads dont have what im looking for. i want to know if 18x10.5 wheels are to big for the car. Volk Racing CE28N - 10 Spoke Design. is the width to much? i want something around 8~10.5 that wont rub, dont mind rolling the fenders.

OFFSETS play a big part!

From what I know, 255 tires are the max width you can run on 2G's let alone possibly on 1G's..

and usually 255 Tires go on a rim that is between 8.5-9.5.. If I am not mistaken..

Considering you are not going for stretch tire look or anything..

Check offsets, I am sure there is a chart on this somewhere!

you should look at this one. its a good read. there was a wheel calculator i was looking for but i couldn't find it.

I wouldn't go wider then a 245...but thats just me.

I found it!

Wheel Offset Calculator

Put in the stock specs, and then specs of the rim you what you want to run and it will give you a rough est if your wheel will fit. (not exact with tire to finder clearance mind you. and no break caliper clearance either...and theres other factors like how soft your suspension is ect. but this helps):thumb:

18x10.5 is way to extreme and will just stick out and look stupid. I have 18x8.5 +40 offset and they tuck nicely with the fenders rolled.
What is the purpose for your car? Are you into- auto-x, road course, drag, street, looking cool? That will help guide the wheel fitment suggestions.

I run 18x10.5 on my race car, along with 285/30.18 A6s - I posted a shot or two of the car some time ago.

In short, that size will stick out 3-4" on each wheel, you will need A Sawzall for the front fenders and 650+ springs in the rear with 3+" wheel to arch vertical clearance to keep the rear arches from adding additional rain grooves to your tyres. You can't cut the rear arches (easily) as they form a significant component of the bodyshell's rigidity - were you to do this it would require a bodyshop/fabricator familiar with the issues created - assuming you want to live past the first time you hit the brakes, or pitch it into a turn...

The car does look cool/silly/funny depending on your taste, the comment I get is that it looks like the old Hot Wheels cars, everyone wants to pick it up and go "vroom vroom" :)

like it was said a 8-9" wide wheel is max without getting crazy and chopping up fenders... i run 17x8.5+30 with a 245/40/17 and in dropped pretty low and i had to roll the rears quite a bit and the fronts just a little to bring the fenders flush

alright thanks guys im going to look for 17's or 18's and around 8~9" and im going to do autox and open road racing.
*edit*
im looking into these http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...lse&filterBrand=All&filterNew=All&sort=Weight 17x8 $952.00 15.6lbs
a little pricey but they aren't Chinese knock offs. one other little thing, should i go with a smaller offset if i want the wheel/tire sticking out a little? it has a +45mm offset.

you should go with atleast +40 to give you some extra room ... but if road racing is what you want to do you should be looking into 17x9 with a +35 will work with a 2gb you might need +30 with a 2ga

will spacers help me out? i found 17x9 and it has a 45mm offset.
